Hello everyone,
Today we did some exciting finishing touch ups to our projects. Over these past few days, we’ve learned that working as a team can put us in a position not only to finish efficiently, but to have more ideas and stay curious. Once we were finished, the community came with hugs and organized performances to show their gratitude for our work. There was a group of kids who performed a common Panamainian dance that captured the beauty of their culture, a recycling fair, and other performances including where they asked us to participate. This big demonstration caught us by surprise and made us feel like we left a long lasting mark on their home. Through this journey, the beauty of our hands, skills, and artistic ideas is what gave us pride to continue helping the community. Beyond that, some of the kids today inspired us to learn to try new things even if it’s difficult. They tried communicating with us through English even though it’s not commonly spoken in their country. Being the Lider Del Dia today showed us that the community around us is carried by many values and skills like communication. To wrap it up, we learned that people can mess up and grow from it by showing support and being there for them. We celebrated all of this at a Panamanian steakhouse for dinner. Below are photos of this journey.
Sincerely,
Nehemie and Mayli
