Phew! Finally finished with our last day of CAP! It’s your leaders of the day – Abby, Trang & Laila!
Today is day #9 of our Global Glimpse trip. It’s also our last day wrapping up 3 days of hard work. Luckily, we got the privilage to sleep in an extra 30 minutes compared to our first two days of CAP. We started off the morning with a special request for breakfast “Gallo pinto!” A wonderful energizer to prepare everyone for this important last day. Arriving at the CAP digging site, we were greeted with the unfotunate sight. The trenches were filled with water. However, we persisted nonetheless. We worked for 3 long hours until it was time to walk back down the hill for lunch. Our amazing chef prepared beef, potatoes with plantain, and vegetables. We can’t forget the delicious mango juice. YUMMY!!!
After the spectacular lunch, we grabbed our tools and went back to work. It was our last time walking up the hill, so we savored every last moment of the scenery. Eventually, we made our way up there. Luckily we only had to work for an hour and a half instead of 3 hours. We were so eager to finish the project that we didn’t want it to end early. However, we insisted that we finish so they can be rewarded by going to The Pulperia [the snacks shop]. With bags full of snacks, we went back to The Base House.
At the Base House, in order to take care of our tools, we washed and cleaned them. Time passed by so fast, that it was already time to have our last call to the parents as our journey is coming to an end. Those who weren’t calling their parents were writing thank you cards to our supporters of Global Glimpse. Dinner came and went as we ate pasta and enjoyed our melon juice. It was finally time for our last Nightly Meeting at The Base House. Before our Unity Clap, we had our CAP Debrief, where we reflected on our Community Action Project experience. Lastly, we had free time to spend with our friends and to pack since we will be leaving tomorrow afternoon to San Jose.
From your last CAP Leaders of T1A,
Trang, Laila and Abby!
