CAP Day1

Hello Global Glimpse families! We are the leaders of the day, Kim, Adrian, and Clover! We are excited to announce that we have started our Community Action Project (CAP) where we are restoring a tree nursery in Santa Maria school. Our goal is to beautify and provide additional assistance to the tree nursery to make it more efficient and accessible for the students. Today, we started by creating compost and substrate mixtures along with the Santa Maria Eco Club. Additionally, we are starting to set up the irrigation system within the vivero (greenhouse) to provide a consistent supply of water to young plants.

Besides the work we accomplished today, we also had the opportunity to learn traditional Panamanian dances from the Santa Maria students. This was many peoples´favorite part of the day because we could share culture beyond words. Unfortunately, our work and community time was cut short due to foul weather (a big ol´thunderstorm).

Being leader of the day was a little stressful, mostly because it was new. However, our work was fulfilling and the exhaustion we feel is proof of our hard work. The work from today and our work as leaders gave us a much better understanding of the differences between work in Panama and the United States. Although this work is exhausting to us, this is just a regular school day to the kids in Panama who are younger than us!

We are looking forward to continuing the work we did today as we are every day!!! Thank you again everyone for your kind comments, reading them aloud at the end of the day is always a treat. We cannot wait to show you what we do next!

Hi ma, it´s Adrian. I´m unsure if you´re reading this, but I miss you dearly. It´s still unreal to think I wound up in another nation, some 2000 miles away from the Bay, all I´ve ever known.

Hola mom, it’s Kimberly here. I had a really nice birthday here and everyone´s so nice and kind here. Say hi to Sol and Abuelita for me. I love and miss you guys.

HIIIII CHLOEEEEE!!!!!! HELLO HALLO HIII HELLOO THANK YOY FOR BEING MY NUMBER ONE!!!!!! Can´t wait to get back and play vidio games with you, I´ll make you another bracelet don´t even worry. Btw you´re famous here lol everyone thinks you´re cool (AS THEY SHOULD) And Alonzo, if you see this, I won´t forgive you but I miss you and everyone else too lol. HIII MOM HI DAD HI KAI! I been holding abuncha weird bugs heehee
