Heya people, it’s Big-O and Big-M AKA Owen and Mars. We started off the day early at 6 AM and headed for a wonderful breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and mini toasts at 6:30 AM. Today was the final day of our CAP project with Save the Turtles at Playa Venao, so right after breakfast we hopped on the bus and headed to the beach! We warmed up for the day with Filipino stick fighting again and started the final stretch of our CAP day project. We split into 3 different groups, finishing the nursery, making mosaic art out of recycled trash, and working with the environmental ministry. With the help of the environmental ministry, we finished up our CAP project and celebrated with a unity clap. Shout out to Alexandra, Becky, Carol, Orlando, Scott, and the entire team at Save the Turtles Playa Venao.

After a hard day of work, we went down to their gift shop to support their organization. We left with bracelets, necklaces, colorful shirts, and tote bags before leaving for a surprise hike to a waterfall. While on the scenic hike through the jungle, we spotted howler monkeys, snakes, and iguanas. At the end, we got to take a dip in a pristine waterfall. We took advantage of our time there and took as many pictures that we could before having to head back to the bus. We left to have a delicious lunch at Oleajes del Sabor by the beach before finally calling it a day and heading home to Las Tablas. At 4 PM, many of us got to call all of you back home, and some people walked around Las Tablas to see horse parades and a rodeo for the Santa Librada Festival.

Finally at 6 PM, we headed out into town for a special dinner to celebrate the completion of our CAP project. We had a variety of delicious meals and desserts like flan and cheesecake! We listened to salsa music and took group pictures. We finished the day with another great nightly meeting, where we read all your great comments, laughed a lot, and shouted each other out. Now we are looking forward to Bio-cultural diversity / Fun Day tomorrow!
We all can’t wait to see everyone at home soon! (And shout out to Maddie back at home!!!)

Thanks,
Owen and Mars

Thanks for the recap Owen and Mars. Congrats to the group – It must feel rewarding to finish the CAP project. Sounds like you were able to fit a lot into the day today – it makes me tired just reading about all of the activities! LOL.
I’m a little jealous of your upcoming bio-cultural diversity fun day tomorrow and am looking forward to reading about it and seeing more smiling faces.

Congrats on finishing your CAP! I hope you have a ridiculously fun Fun Day to celebrate. You all look lovely dressed up.
Yashiro-Rose, the dogs are still sniffing your bedroom door and wondering where you’ve gone. They would like you to come home, please. The cats don’t care as long as they get food. The people love and miss you immensely.
Can’t wait to see you again! Love,
Kristin

We loved reading this, Big-O and Big-M! What a fabulous final CAP day! We loved seeing the mosaics from trash and hearing about the wrap up work for the project. Wow, you saw some awesome animals–howler monkeys?! 🐒 We saw some squirrels and rabbits here today 🤣🐿️, but nothing like iguanas and monkeys. The waterfall sounds amazing! And all the yummy food! But maybe our favorite part was reading that you are all sitting around laughing and shouting each other out at the end of the day–love it! 😍 What a fantastic trip. We miss and love you tons, Ow, and can’t wait to see you Thursday!

Caught up on all the blog posts and man I’m so excited seeing y’all get to experience all this and work on the nursery and just be out there on the beach living life! Y’all really have become proper travelers throughout this trip – that much is clear to see. I hope you all enjoy your fun day and I can’t wait to read all about it! Big love to all of LT1C!!

Thank you for this great re-cap! Love the pictures. So happy you all have accomplished your goal. The Jungle! Monkeys! Snakes😮😳😅 oh boy, I just remembered when I was little a monkey pulled my hair trying to give me a kiss 😄🤣 and he was in a caged, so after that not a fan😆. I am so happy all of you gave yourselves the chance to go into this lifetime experience and made the decision to make it a great one. Eddy, Abuela sent me a text in Spanish with a message for you, so I translated most of it for you.
