Cap Day 3 Leaders of the Day: Alex, Andrew, Sommer

Today was hype. We finished sanding, painting, and building fences and benches for the local school. This was the main project we’ve been working on that we actually completed early into the 3rd day, so we received more work from the local organizers by helping paint a mural, moving benches, plucking weeds out their garden, and building more fences around the trees.

The previous night when we were passed the torch for leaders of the day, Luis was unavailable for CAP day 2, so everyone showed their support for him and we joined in a group hug to show our appreciate him.

Today on the school’s soccer court there was a rhinoceros beetle struggling in the sun and I (Sommer, with the help of Damien and Jaslin) got the opportunity to hold it. It was the coolest part of my trip. Yippie I love bugs.

Wassup guys, it’s I, Andrew. After we put a close on the CAP Project, we decided to leave a mark on one of the murals we made by leaving our hand prints on the branches, so we could leave a forever lasting impact. We want to give a shout out to the lunch lady for cooking up in the kitchen, it was absolute cinema. I loved the spaghetti so much I had to go for thirds. After dinner we had another nightly meeting and people expressed their gratitude for having the opportunity of being able to experience the CAP Project

Hey it’s Alex, the last leader of the day. Today was pretty fun; we got a new program coordinator Nacho (yes that is his name). He’s really chill and from the get go he was able to lift everyone’s energy. I mean one moment we were sluggishly smacking nails down and the next were having competitions to see who can sink a nail faster. He’s like a professional hype man.

Shout out (by Sommer) to Silas: I just want to say I love and miss you and can’t wait to tell you everything once I see you!

Shout out (by Andrew) : Shout out to my family and friends reading the blog, I am returning soon, I love all of yall so much, see you soon.

Shout out (by Alex) to GG staff: Yall were blast to speak to and hang out with during this trip. You all were a perfect amount of strict and also fun and the trip would’ve gone completely different without you!

Ah, rewarded for fast work with more work – but that’s good! You were able to contribute even more to the school. That’s so cool that your hand prints will remain long after you’ve returned to Massachusetts. What a beautiful mural!
