Hello Blog! It’s Hannah, Dulce, and Kiera with your latest report from Las Tablas! Today we woke up before the sun and hopped on the bus to go to Pedasí for our LAST DAY OF CAPPPP! On the way, we heard huge booms of thunder and streaks of lightning⛈️, When we got out, the rain was pouring down but the energy was still up! Even though the conditions were not exactly ideal, we still planted 600 TREE SAPLINGSSS!!🌴🌳 After a few slips into muddy puddles we got back on the bus to go to lunch. We enjoyed some yummy roasted chicken and lentils 🍗🫘 . Then we headed back to the hotel to change out of our wet clothes and take some much needed naps. Since it was out last day reforesting, we look some time to reflect and review what we learned this week. Many of us had thoughtful comments about perseverance, resilience, and goal setting, as well as how these dry rainforest effect the Panamá community. To celebrate our accomplishments we had a delicious dinner out! We ate at The Garage and indulged in burgers 🍔 , tacos 🌮 , milkshakes 🥤, fruit juices 🧃and more— a much needed refuel after all our hard work. We couldn’t be more proud of each other and it served as a very sentimental moment for all of us as we wrapped up our last day in Las Tablas.💪🤗🥰
From Dulce:
Being the leader of the day truly challenged me in becoming an attentive and supportive glimpser 🤗. As one of the leaders and guiding other glimpsers through the thunder and heavy rain allowed me to connect with others in a way I wouldn’t have otherwise imagined. Through carrying the saplings and high fiving despite muddy hands was truly uniting!! I’m so glad everyone persevered through the final cap day despite challenges conditions, unity truly was a major part in our accomplishments. I am really glad I was able to see everyone be so resilient and positive throughout the day. I enjoyed the day, as it allowed me to come out of my shell 🐚 and despite the final sentimental moments with my friends it was a fun final day at Las Tablas !!🌴🍔
From Keira:
Me being the leader of the day really changed how I lead. Through the rain and thunder during CAP to later in the day I found myself taking notice of when we should move to the next activity and monitoring how everyone in the group was doing. How as a leader we should be keeping a watchful eye on the group. I was definitely noticing how despite the rain and thunder we still had good energy. This positivity carried over to after our CAP and into the night when we were feeling sentimental about our last night in Las Tablas. I’m so happy we were able to achieve our goal for CAP today and despite wanting to soak in our last day in Las Tablas it was still a fun and reflective day.
From Hannah:
As leader of the day I got to learn a bunch about myself. As we LITERALLY braved the elements today, and had to push through hard hill climbs and slippery slopes, the moral of the group was a bit apprehensive ⛰️⛈️. However, being someone who loves intense weather just for the thrill of it, I was excited to be working in the storm. 🤪Today I got to set an example for others of what it looks like to try to embrace hardships and just live in the moment. We were soaked within 3 minutes of being outside… but once we were committed to being wet, everyone was ready to get their hands dirty!🍂 Being LDD helped me understand the influence I can have on the moral of others if I express my positive outlook despite harsh conditions!😎
P.S. Happy Birthday Mommy! Thank you for supporting me and this trip. I can’t wait to celebrate you when I get home! I love you!🫰💖🫂
