Welcome to Day 2 of CAP! We are the LDD’s of today: MaR’Case, Rowan, and Maya! After the torch was passed down during our nightly meeting, we went out to play in the field and got invited to play laser tag with the locals from one of Constanza’s camps. The game commenced with a dance battle and we used our dance moves from our dance class. It was a great bonding experience for the group even though bed time ended up being almost an hour later.

Concrete!!!

The next morning, we started with breakfast where we wished one of our group members a heartfelt goodbye because unfortunately he left early :(. (WE MISS YOU AAREON!!!!) Then we boarded the bus at 8:45am and headed back to the community to continue our CAP.

Today we started our second house which started at around 9:30am. We promptly began mixing the sand, cement, and water to create the concrete we used to lay on the floor. After combining our groups together to create a long human chain to bring up buckets into the house, we were able to move more efficiently and finished the house two hours early at 3pm! Since we were able to finish early, we moved on to the third house. Amazingly, we finished the floor in time which allowed us to complete two houses in six hours! While switching through shifts, many Glimpers interacted with the residents of the community while resting and tried to teach them basic english words. (Shout out to Erick for teaching the kids!)

IN closing

Today was a great example of the importance of communication and working as a team. We worked better than we did yesterday because of a conversation we had together about communication. We as Liders del Dia (LDD) are super proud of the hard work that each and every team member did today.
Something important we all remembered to remind ourselves of was an analogy brought up by one of our group mates that states:
“There is a difference between a group of really good musicians and a really good orchestra”
This quote really encompassed today by reminding us that we work better as a team rather than just a bunch of individuals doing the job.
Today was a really great and productive overall and we are so excited to continue tomorrow!

Thank you everyone!
