Hola! It’s your favorite LDDs, Mia and Durga! Today was our second CAP (community action project) day.
Today we woke everybody up at 7:00 AM. We began the day with a yummy breakfast and headed to the CAP site at 8:45. There, we met with the local kids who were eager to help us. Shoutout to our sassy king Pablo. The house was fully demolished on CAP day 1, so our main job for the day was fixing the foundation. The floor was very uneven, so we took tools and flattened the ground. We were greeted with many friends (cockroaches and fire ants) as we dug up the ground.
After we lined up the bed of the house, it’s time that we had lunch. This consisted of a traditional soup dish with various meats such as pork, beef, and chicken. Once we finished lunch, we headed back to our CAP site. We continued working by digging holes, but some of us got distracted playing jumprope with the little kids. We ended up finishing early (yay free time!). Some of us even headed to the shop to pick up ice cream as a little treat and souvenirs. Fortunately, we did not have a seminar today (just kidding, we LOVE our seminars).
Today was our first rainy day here in the Dominican Republic. This meant that we got to see Arsenio dripped out in his full-body poncho. To top it off for the night, we had quesadillas. Not a good day for those who are lactose intolerant…
We closed out the day with our nightly meeting, passing the torch to Ericka and Loveleen. We learned how to dougie from Ericka, while Loveleen showed off her epic Bhangra skills.
It was such a productive day working on the community action project, and to all of our family, we miss you so much and can’t wait to see you!
From Durga – I miss you so much Amma and Acha! I think I just got scammed at the store when buying gifts because you cannot tell me wooden spoons are this expensive… By the way, from now on, our car rides will ONLY feature Shakira and Bad Bunny.
From Mia- Hola queens (my parents). I can’t wait to tell you about everything. I hope everything is good and I am so excited to see you. Dad, I hope you are catching tons of fish and Mom, prepare to have a new duolingo buddy! I love and miss everyone very much.
