CAP Day #2

Hola from the best LDD’s so far Devin, Grace, and Gio!!! Today we wanted to do something unique with our wakeup and gave the glimpsers a special mail delivery by waking everyone up by singing a Pura Vida song and giving every glimpser a hand written note! After that we enjoyed a delicious breakfast that consisted of gallo pinto, eggs, chicken sausage, pork sausage, sweet plantains, watermelon, papaya, and yogurt! Then we warmed everyone up with a quick brain game of Imposter.

Directly after we started our trek up the hill and prepared ourselves for day 2 of digging trenches, laying pipe, and refilling the ditches. Since we had made such progress the day before, after stretching and dividing into new groups, one group was able to start laying the pipe and filling in the hole, while the other group dug further up the hill. We all worked really hard before lunch and managed to finish one whole section, leaving us with only one section left after lunch.

Directly after a lunch of jambalaya, amazing refried beans, salad, and tostones, we jumped right back up to work and dug for another very productive 2 hours to conclude our working time. In this period, we increased the depth of the trench on the hill, filled in the section that was already deep enough, and sang some Christmas carols to keep the moral up. Judging by how dirty and tired we were, it became very clear of the great work we did! After the walk back some took extra long showers and others went to the local convinient store to get some snacks and drinks!

After many showers, we all had much deserved free time, and then around 5:00 we wrote letters of appreciation to Global Glimpse supporters who have helped contribute to students abilities to travel the world #CostaRicaIsTheBest. Today the chefs served up some fried chicken, (after long days of begging for a taste of american food) pasta salad, and rice and then we started our pool tournament! Our first game ended in a tramatic loss for Devin and Grace (but we know who was the real winners) #ThereWillBeAComeback.

Our nightly meeting began with our conversations about the quote and question of the day and then we went straight into the acts of the night! Lily performed a very impressive handstand but was cut short due to the blood curdling scream of Thomas about to give birth! Jason in a swift and heroic manner jumped into action and delivered the baby… only to find out that the baby was not Jasons… but ARLENS!!!!! :0 Jason in a rage of anger stomped on the baby (No real children were harmed in the process of tonights talent show) (Baby was a balloon). The new leaders finished off the meeting with explaining the fun day ahead!

Shortly after we watched a short video about the impact of tourism in Costa Rica and the importance of preserving it’s wildlife and ecosystems. As of now, the pool tournament continues with hopes of an epic rematch with Devin and Grace recieving their vengeance. Lily and Jason will be back tomorrow with more updates!
