Today, we went to Plinio Antonio Moscoso High School and began painting our welcome sign, mission statement, school letters, and tree barrier! We split into groups and with the help of local students we made some great progress for our first day. We learned lots about working hard together even when communication between language barriers can make things difficult. We were outside from 8:00am until 1:00pm in the heat and still remained positive in our working environment. I believe we speak for everyone when we say that our favorite part of today was making new friends and practicing our Spanish-speaking skills with the students! Not only did we work among each other all day, but we also enjoyed snack time together, followed by a couple games of volleyball and soccer. The rest of our day consisted of a delicious lunch at a restaurant nearby the school and we also got a brief tour of the surrounding town. Now it is time for us to rest up for our CAP Day 2 tomorrow, where the festivities will continue!

This is Ella here! First of all, hello to my parents, siblings, grandparents and any other family members reading this, I miss you all so much! Also, shoutout to my BMB’s… you know who you are and I miss you all more than words can say and can’t wait to hear about all the fun I have been missing out on in Northampton! My experience being Lider Del Dia today was very positive, and it was fun to try something new and step into the spotlight for a day! Something I learned about myself through this was that I need to exercise using my voice more often and take initiative when necessary. That’s all from me for tonight, I hope you all enjoyed and thanks for listening!

I can’t wait to come home and catch up with you all! today me and Ella were Lider Del Dia and I really enjoyed it. It gave me the chance to step out of my comfort zone and learn more about myself, for example I need to learn how to make my voice heard and step up when the time is right. Overall, I had an amazing time being Lider Del Dia I hope you enjoyed and I can’t wait to see you all!
