C.a.p. Day 1!!!

Hello friends and families, this is Emma and Estelle, todays Leaders of the Day! Today was the start of our CAP project, where we have to paint two classrooms at a local school here in Turrialba. For breakfast this morning we had pancakes and fruit which gave us a taste of back home along with costa ricas famous coffee. We all enjoy eachothers silence as we are all not really morning people, but as the morning goes on we start to pack our bags to hike to the local school, packing a delicous ham, chicken, tomatos, lettuce, bread and butter to take in our bags for lunch. The walk is nine minutes up and down the mountain highway as we make our way to the school. When we arrived we split our group into two so we are able to divide and conquer each classroom. Stellas group had jack, maik, adriana, levi, ana, and nick. Emmas group had jose, nate, chris, ethan, KJ, alana, isabella, milan and isabella.

Heyy Estelle here. Our group was great at splitting the tasks and painting the room. Taping the room so certain parts wouldnt get dirty from the paint was definitely the most tedious but at the end of day it made the painting job that much more enjoyable. We also got a speaker half way in so we were able to chill, talk and paint! During our break and after eating our yummy sandwiches and blackberry juice we got to play soccer at the schools soccer field. We were sweating buckets but ultimately had soooo much fun hanging out and cheering each other on.

Hiii its Emma! I had so much fun leading my group today with cleaning, taping and priming. My group did an amazing job with spliting up equal work using the tall people like nate and kj to reach higher ceilings. Our group was so great with time managment while also taking care of ourselves so we dont burn out. During Lunch after we ate, Milan and I decided to do the rest of the painting so we could take advantage of the free time. As we came back from lunch our group finished cleaning up the spilled paint and prepped for the next day with 3 hours of worktime left to spare!! The rest of my group rested or helped estelle with painting the rest of her room. As others helped with the rest of her room me, jose, milan, ethan and others helped shovel dirt for a garden being made for the school.

Walking back we stopped at a shop to get snacks for the rest of the night and headed back to the base. When we got back we had our first phone calls to our families! All of us were so excited to call our parents and tell them personally about our experiences. After we cleaned up and headed to dinner where we had chicken alfrado and toast with soursop juice.

We had our usual nightly meeting and then our GGLs suprised us! Turns out whrn we were in the shops Danny gad bought us marshmallows and we had a bonfire night. There was loads of singing, dancing, and played limbo. Everyone had a great time and it was a rerlly great way for us to get to know each other even better and connect. We ended it off with more freetime for games and a prayer that brought us even closer together. We miss you all so much and cant wait for our next call.

Love you!!! – Emma and Estelle

I am SOOOO PROUD of each one of you!…This proves that dedications, support, and the thrive to do better, eventually it PAYS OFF…Helping others involves intentionally contributing to another person life (present and Future), whether through small acts of kindness or larger commitments, without expecting material rewards in return. This takes A LOT!!! and not everyone can do it.

The effort itself reflects a commitment to positively impacting someone else’s life and that’s you ALL are doing as a GROUP! Keep up the excellent works and remember THE SKY IS THE LIMITED…

And to My princess Maikendaly(Candy) I am very proud of you and your actions. LOVE YOU and MISS YOU.
