Day 4
Hello families and friends!
Izabella and Daphne here, as the Líderes Del Día (Leaders of the day.) Today we had an adventure to a farm called Finca Pamel where we helped the owners and their staff work with animals. The name of the farm came from the combination of two siblings named Pablo and Melani, who are the heads of the farm. The owners, and everyone who worked on the farm, welcomed us with open arms, as well as kindly guided us through all the tasks needed to be done. An interesting fact about the farm is that there are only a few workers who take care of all the responsibilities that we helped with later.
We embarked on many tasks such as herding goats (there was a goat named Covid who would NOT be herded), filling up food bags to be dried, as well as cleaning out pens. Before we started any responsibilities though, we got broken up into three groups in order to maximize efficiency. Something that made us think about the way we live is how most of the jobs we have are aided by technology, or at least have a lot of manpower on them. At this farm, there were only a handful of workers- without technology- to perform their task compared to the US. Even with smaller numbers, it was incredibly shocking to see that they didn´t need the amount of help that the US needs regarding manpower. Some groups were also tasked with repainting the entryway with flowers and other colorful designs to enhance its colors. Furthermore, we were able to milk a cow and also feed her baby! A little while later, we trekked up a grueling hill to visit an indigenous burial site. That hill was HOT and STEEP. Despite the heat and our exhaustion, we still made it up the hill, which we are all very proud of ourselves for. From the high point of the hill, we got a gorgeous view of a river and the lush greenery at the burial site. We also found pottery and other artifacts that were created by the indigenous people that got excavated over time.
Whilst still tired, some of us played an intense volleyball match whilst the smarter people conversed with each other in the shade. No matter what everyone chose to do, we all had fun. Then, of course, we got a cold sweet treat afterwards. One of the workers was kind enough to bring out a treat called sorbetto, passing it out to everyone in hopes of cooling us down. The same worker was very inspiring because of her enthusiasm and the way she fought through the language differences to give everyone the best experience possible.
Once we arrived back at the accommodation, everyone split up into a few groups. One group went on a walk with one of the GG leaders to Dominos while another group took a trip back to the Panamanian Walmart that was previously visited yesterday. Afterwards, we showcased our haul from the store on video that was taken by one of the kids.
Being LDD was super fun and eventful, especially with the effort and stress put into making sure everyone was hydrated and happy. We both enjoyed having the power to help others with their needs, as well as showing how to be powerful, independent women that are ready for every task we had to face. We learned that we not only need to ask for help from others for more, but also to not be afraid to take charge.
For Izabella´s family and friends, I just wanted to say hi and that I miss you all. I´m having so much fun with everyone and making lots of friends and memories. Shoutout to my parents, brothers, and big three besties. Miss and love all of you guys.
For Daphne´s family and friends, I love you all so so much and I miss you guys. Please eat all the hamburgers and pizza you can whilst I am gone, I want your cravings for that out of your system by the time I get back.

Hello Everybody,
Love the farm adventure photos, especially the baby cow and feather angel wings! Covid should meet Chris P. Bacon, both will run amok!
Little concerned about mister president, he kept bumping his head on the glass door, making that ‘bonk’ sound. Guess it’s my fault holding the white noodle container in front of him. But I panicked knowing I had to feed him with the chopstick method for the very 1st time. I’m not an expert like you, Clover. One almost jumped in my face, I could’ve yelped, but I thought if I open my mouth, it may jump in. I finally got one by the leg, only to escape in front of Mr P. Guess there will be hunting tonight. I did successfully get 2 crickets to feed Mr P! We’ll see if I can do this again in 2-3 days. Looking forward to your adventures tomorrow. ✌️
