Hello family this is Patricia, Maro, and Jaylina. We are the leaders of the day for Day 9!
To start off, this is Patricia. Today we woke everyone up at 6:30am to start the day. We all packed our swimwear, sunscreen and necessities for the whole day. First, at 8:30am, we headed to Playa Venao to meet guest speakers from the organization Save the Turtles. They showed us the amount of eggs they have collected and the amount of turtles they released throughout the past six years. In Playa Venao, we learned about the different types of predators that attack the turtles’ eggs while in land such as coyotes, birds, crocodiles and most importantly humans. There are less fortunate communities in Panama that collect these eggs and use them as a food source. This informatino raised our awareness on how important preserve species such as turtles that are endangered of becoming extinct. After presentation, we gave presents to the guest speakers and took pictures in front of the nursery.
Hello family, this is Jaylina. After we met with our guest speakers and learned about their nursery, we WAO Beach Resort for a delicious lunch. Students had the option to choose between a New York steak with rice or chicken with rice. Students were able to also buy snacks and some more food while sitting near the beach. After lunch we headed to beach where students then changed into their swimwear and spoke with the lifeguards about beach safety rules and what to do when they hear certain whistles to ensure that all studenst are being safe at the beach. We all had an amazing time with our friends playing in the water and in the sand. There were also many different animals around us including Deer and very colorful Parrots. I mostly stayed in the water and played volleyball in the sand which is what most students did. Everyone had such a great time bonding togeteher at the beach that no one wanted to leave.
Hi everyone! This is Maro. After enjoying our time at the beach, everyone got all cleaned up to head back on the bus to Las Tablas. We enjoyed many snacks which included pringles, a variety of juices, crackers, and more. We then boarded the bus and had fun karaokee sessions with one another and also napped after all the fun we had on the beach. After about an hour we arrived to our hotel just in time for dinner where we had, in my opinion, the best meal so far. Dinner was a cheeseburger with fries and orange juice. We then headed upstairs to shower, change, and put away all of our beach clothes to get ready for our nightly meeting. As we wrap up our final night in las tablas, I think its safe to say that this was a very fun and meaningful experience for everyone and I will forever appreciate all the bonds and memories that I’ve created on this trip.
