Hi, my name is Katelyn and I’m an incoming senior at Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, California. Outside of school I spend most of my time cheering both for my school and competitively at my gym, where I also coach younger athletes. Cheer has been a huge part of my life for years, and being able to give back by coaching has become just as important to me as competing. I’m also involved in leadership at school and try to stay active in different clubs and activities whenever I can.
I’m really excited for Costa Rica because I think it’s going to be completely different from my normal routine and unlike anything I’ve done before. I’m looking forward to experiencing a new culture, meeting people from different schools and backgrounds, and seeing what everyday life looks like in another country. I’m excited to try new foods, explore new places, and learn things that you just can’t learn sitting in a classroom. I also think this trip will push me to grow as a person, become more independent, and help me see the world from new perspectives.
One thing people usually notice about me is that I’m pretty energetic and always trying to encourage people or help wherever I’m needed. A fun fact about me is that I was on a Level 6 Worlds cheer team for the past two years, which was an incredible experience and something I’m really proud of. I’m excited to meet everyone on this trip and make memories I’ll remember long after it’s over.
