Day 10 – Final Reflection

Cap Day Three: Final day of work with the school of agriculture. We finished the tree house work table and hydroponics system with teamwork and efficiency. Today everyone maximized the little time we had before the dance to finish all the work. In the beginning we were all stressed about the project, but with good leadership from our leaders of the groups: Seth, Milina Josue, and the amazing Leaders of the Day (LDDs): Renato, JJ, Antoni, we fished the project on time and wanted to celebrate with the students of the school by showing off our different culturally traditional dances. During the festival we saw a bull attacking their fellow dancers who were trying to capture him, which contrasted their heart break dance that went before. We responded with an electric Cotton Eye Joe and the Macarena to express our American culture to the Panamanians. It was an exciting experience for all in attendance. Despite our very little time to prepare, we danced our corzaon/hearts out. And we were able to participate in each other’s culture dances. When we got back to the humble abode we wrote our dear Global Glimpse supporters letters to show our appreciation and then did a self reflection of the CAP. We had time to freshen up before our special dinner where we all dressed to impress and had delicious food of our choosing. It was amazing, like prom! After, our outfits shut down all cameras in a 5 mile radius, we attended the celebratory dinner at the fancy cafe. We couldn’t bear to be apart so we brought all the tables together and all sang karaoke and (thanks to Gavi) took prom-esce pictures and salsa’d. Fun was had by all. Then we took a lovely stroll back to the hotel through the streets of Las Tablas. It was a night to remember.
Renato: Heyyyy guys back home, how’s it going? Mom please make me brownies when I get back! Enzo don’t do anything I wouldn’t do, or maybe anything I would do… ask dad before you do anything. I miss you Lanah! Make sure shadow isn’t lonely! EXLAMATION POINT!
Antoni: Hey family, It has been a nice experience to help make an impact on the students of Panama, I wish that you guys could see what I worked on and got to complete throughout my time here. I am reaching the last stage of the trip and I can’t wait to see you guys, I hope everyone is doing well, and I’ll see you soon. Love you guys so much!
JJ: Hellooooo familia, this experience has been wonderful being part of the Panamanian community. Learning about their history and talking to the people, and seeing our differences and similarities made me realize how similar we are. My goal for this trip was successful for the most part I’d have to say at the least. I was able to try new things and explore things I would have never done that back at home. This exploration has made me supple duper happy to experience it especially with the other amazing Glimpsers (Shout out to my fellow LDDs), they most definitely helped me step out of the bubble and pop it.

It’s so so great to read about all the memories and friends you are all making. I know all of us back home can not wait until the kids get back and tell us all about it. (. What I really want to know is how you all did with out technology) Chelsi your cheer girls can not wait for you to be back along with me. I can not teach them very good 🤷♀️. As your time in Panama comes to an end, I just want to say how proud I am of all of you. You left home with a group of people, some you may barely have known, and together you experienced a different country, culture, and way of life.
Gavriella, I smiled when you used The Truman Show quote in one of your blogs: “In case I don’t see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night.” So I figured I would finish this journey with a movie quote of my own.
“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
As parents, we try to guide our children and prepare them for life, but we never really know where life will take them. A trip, a friendship, or one unexpected experience can change the direction of your life in ways you never imagined.
I hope Panama is one of those experiences all of you carry with you for many years. Enjoy your last day, take in every moment, and be proud of everything you experienced together.
And Gavriella, keep opening that box. I can’t wait to see what life has waiting for you next.

Hi Glimpsers! I love reading this blog and seeing the progression from a bunch of individual students on a trip to the amazing development of family who choose one another and are working together to not just better themselves, but the world around them … you all definitely have been making the world better then how you found it ♥️. I did get a little teary-eyed seeing all the love and happiness in your group pictures ( but I cry over everything, just ask McKayla 😝) your fiesta celebration sounds like you all enjoyed the night , and McKayla , I hope you were able to sneek some Lana Del Rey into that karaoke machine! It sounds like everyone got a lot done on the final CAP day. Celebrating together on your last night in Las Tablas sounds like a great way to wrap things up and make the occasion even more memorable.
Amanda, we can’t wait to see you again. In our garden, the cherry tomato plants have really taken off, and we have several green tomatoes that should be turning red before long. The herbs are thriving as well. Your lemony herb is practically a small bush now!
