Hello everyone, My name is Fidensio Ayala and I was one of the leaders of the day and I had help by two amazing people Jayden and Romeo. We had an amazing day today for it being CAP day 2, and we were missing two of our GGL’s and we still pushed through the day and ended off with an amazing note besides the rain, but you’ll hear about that later on. We started our morning at 7:15am with a light breakfast some pancakes, eggs, and some fruit. After breakfast we had a little break to get our self ready mentally and physically ready for work. We did a couple of stretches before heading to the work site. In the morning as a leader I had an amazing time getting everyone up making sure everyone drank water and playing game so no one got bored. It was a really fun experience to have with all the think I had to do but the beat part was having to amazing partners that help the whole day thank you Romeo and Jayden.
Hello everyone, I’ll be taking over for the afternoon portion of our day. My name is Jayden, the second CAP day leader. We started our afternoon by having lunch at 12:00pm, which was; pork chop, rice, salad, and plantains. After we had lunch we had a two hour break to relax and gather ourselves in order to go back out there and do our best we then headed to the work site. When we arrived we started off strong by placing planks to build the wall. The afternoon we had some thunder while the sun was out. After finishing the second wall and filling up the ground with some dirt, it started to sprinkle a little bit. Afterwards it started to actually rain and there was thunder which did scare us a couple of times while we were working. However we didn’t that let stop us as we pushed through as much as we could before the rain got worse. The rain would come and go every so often. Once we were about to finish the third wall the rain got really bad we had to stop the work and take shelter for a while. We waited for a couple of minutes before walking back to the hotel in the rain. In the afternoon being a leader was pretty fun and very tiresome as there was a lot to do for today and we had to “rush” a little bit to beat the rain but we were able to complete most of our work. I really enjoyed being the leader of the day alongside my two other leaders, we had a blast leading the group together and we made a lot of memories while doing so.
Hello everyone, I will be writing the final portion of today’s blog. My name is Romeo the third leader of CAP day 2. The evening started right where Jayden left you guys off we got back from the CAP site to our hotel completely drenched in rain water. Despite this we did not let this stop us from continuing our day. When we got back it was an hour of free time for us to talk and play games with one another. After this hour of free time we started 2 concurent activity’s for the day, calls home and a hour and a half of “quiet” time. The quiet time was not so quiet, but the purpose was not for silence but it was for the chance for people to have a social battery reset. I know a lot of the other people went to the roof to play pool and had a blast. But I stayed on the balcony with a friend and talked about the day and the trip in general. After this scheduled break we transitioned into dinner time around 7:30, the dinner for the day was an option between Alfredo pasta and red pasta, with toast on the side. After this we transitioned to the nightly meeting where we discussed the day and the importance of helping out the community around us. After that we did the nightly talent show to pass the torch to the leaders of the day for tomorrow the 3rd and final day of our community action proyecto, proyecto was the word of the day translating to project! Then finally everyone got to there room at 9:30 and turned lights off at 10:00 to get a full night of rest for tomorrow’s activity’s. I had a great time leading with Jayden and Fidensio they were the best teammates I could have asked for and helped me the whole day and made me laugh the entire time. Thank you for reading the blog! Mia–Great work these last couple of days! It’s crazy to think that you are all building a HOUSE for this family–and even more meaningful that you got to meet and play with the kids. Beyond anything we thought before you left on this trip…Does this mean you’re going to be more handy around the house???

I am so happy to hear that you had such a great time being the third leader on CAP Day 2! I’m so proud of you. Please tell your fellow leaders, Jayden and Fidensio, that your mom says thank you for helping you throughout the day and for making you laugh. You guys are incredible for working through the rain (as much as possible) and still getting the job done.
We all miss you sooooo much! Taliyah loves going into your room and saying, “Papás.” Cutest thing ever!
I see you’re putting those Spanish skills to good use—¡proyecto! Only five years of Spanish classes, right? 😂
I only have two more wake-ups (wed & thurs) until I get to see my son again, and I can’t wait to give you the biggest hug.
