Sustainable Development Day
Hi friends and family!
It is Ava and Allison and today we were the leaders of the day for day 6 (Sustainable Development Day). Today was a very chill day, beginning with pancakes for breakfast and making new furry friends. We had a girl dog follow us around during the morning and we named her Mami tortilla and met another dog who we named papi chocolate.

Tortilla followed a group of us to a secret cove that we found. We wandered around the hotel and found stairs that led down a small cliff to a rock landing where we had a full few of the cove and the ocean and could watch the boats go by. Tortilla sat with us during this relaxing moment.

After saying goodbye to tortilla and chocolate we embarked on our 4 hour bus (gua gua in Dominican Spanish Slang) journey home. It was a rough ride for the majority of people and we picked up a GGL leader from a different group on the way, and dropped her off at Jarabacoa.

After getting back to our base home everyone rushed to their beds and bathrooms. For lunch we had yellow rice, pork stew, plantains, coleslaw. A little while later a group of us went souvenir shopping and got a little something special for some of you.
For dinner we had two different kinds of pasta, garlic bread, salad, and our signature juice that we have had 3 times a day, everyday (but we love it). The juice features the flavors: passion fruit, lemonade, tamarind, and clementine.
We ended the night with a seminar informing us on what we will be doing tomorrow for our CAP project day 1. We will be tearing down Maria’s house (she was a woman who lost her home in the fire that struck her community). We will all be contributing to cleaning up her home, and helping prepare the foundation for what will be her new house in the coming months.
As we reach the halfway point of our trip, we want to thank you for staying updated with what we are doing. We miss you and Big Love to everyone!!!!!!
