DAY 10: IT COMES TO AN END

Hello friends and families!

Today’s Global Glimpse leaders were AJ and MD. We started our day with a bright wake up from Melanie, eager to remind us to wake up on time for the long day we had ahead. After waking up, we immediately began waking everyone else up with the same excitement that Melanie woke us up with. After everyone was awake, we began our day eating our fufilling breakfast of oatmeal, and bananas. The day started quickly, with us immediately going to our group room, for our last morning seminar. This seminar was sentimental as we all were able to share our last feelings about one another, in a series of activities. Our first activity was designing a map, retracing our steps on the global glimpse trip, recalling some of the most memorable people and experiences. For our next activity, a myriad of questions were asked, to give silent appreciation to people by tapping their shoulder. Some of the questions were “Who can you rely on?”, “Who always brightened your day?”, and “Who will you miss?”. This experience was heartwarming, because we got to know what people thought about us anonymously, and how many people truly appreciate us. After that, we all had a chance to write farewell greetings on a “BIG LOVE” paper, as our last chance to give our final reflections on one another. Then, we collectively gave Big Love to the Dilenia Hotel and the resturant management and kitchen staff. We feasted on our last “Dilenia” meal of chicken alfredo, rice, and a fresh mixed salad with a Halal option of potatoes and cheese.

Our last chance to explore the small town with a big heart began after lunch, where we all attempted to soak in the rest of the community, in our last 24 hours. We began souvenier shopping, snack shopping, and purchasing clothes in preparation for the night of fun that was planned for us. Before returning back to the hotel, we engaged in a intense basketball game with the community.  After a adventurous 4 hours of free time, we rushed back to the hotel to get dressed in our nicest outfits for a special dinner at MonCarlo Pizzeria. For dinner, we ate three different types of pizza, consisting of cheese, pepperoni, and vegetatarian. We bonded with eachother, over funny jokes, and delicious food.

Finally, we returned to the hotel to begin our final nightly meeting, where we reflected on the past 11 days, with new friends, memories, and life lessons that will be unforgettable. Now, we have to sign off, to begin packing for our 9am departure tomorrow. We can’t wait to see our friends and family upon arrival back to Newark. Thank you so much for tuning in with your last group leaders, AJ and MD. Until next time, Glimpsers out.

Hey Nana!!

We miss you so much but are so proud of all your hard work and community outreach to those in need. We are glad you are connecting with your roots. We saw the pictures of you and your peers and can tell that you have lots of fun stories to share when you return! Especially love the pic of you playing our favorite jueguito Dominoes! I can’t believe you return tomorrow! Can’t wait to give you a big 🤗! See you survived without your cellphone.. we knew you could do it lol! Also remember do not bring back queso wrapped in you know what ! You remember what happened that last time..

What a difference you made in Constanza ! The people you helped will always remember the kindness you shared with them.

Now vemos pronto ! Abrazos y que Dios te bendiga en tu vuelo !
