Hello everyone!
My name is Mary Downie and I am one of your Global Glimpse Leaders (GGLs) for our upcoming trip the the DR! I am a School Counselor at Southwick Regional School. I also coached the Girl’s JV Soccer team for 14 seasons. This will be my third trip with GG. In 2023, I traveled to the DR and last year I was in Ecuador. Both were incredible experiences! I have also traveled with students from my school to Costa Rica, Panama, and Spain. I’m so excited to share this experience with all of you – I know you will have an amazing trip!
When I’m not working at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Beach days, going to the movies, delicious dinners out, and ice cream are a few of my favorite things. I bartend on the weekends for weddings at a local Golf Club. I never get tired of watching people enjoy the happiest day of their lives! I do get tired of hearing the Wobble play at every wedding! LOL! I stay pretty active playing soccer and softball and I also CrossFit. I love to travel, domestically and abroad, and I love watching the Real Housewives! My dog Rocco is my best buddy. He’s an 80-pound Rottie mix. I affectionately refer to him as a beast, but he really is the best dog ever.
I cannot wait to meet all of you on August 7! I look forward to getting to know you all and to experience this trip and all that it has to offer! Get ready to make incredible memories. You will enjoy every moment. I’ll see some of you in Boston and will catch up with our NYC group in Newark! DON’T FORGET YOUR PASSPORTS! LOL!

Thanks for this great into post Mary and we’re thrilled to have you back for trip #3! While we’re not expecting any day on the trip to be THE happiest of anyone’s life, we’re certainly hoping you and the students will have plenty of great days filled with powerful learning experiences as well. Thanks for bringing your full self to the experience (even through the trip blog).
