Fun Day (Day 7)

As the Leaders of the Day, we had the huge responsibility of making sure the students enjoyed their fun day. It was challenging at first but towards the end, we got the hang of it. We had many obstacles that came our way but we didn’t let them stop us from being good leaders. As you continue to read we will explain what we did on our fun day.

We started the day off by waking up at 6:30 am. For breakfast, we had eggs and toast with beverage options of chocolate milk, coffee, and orange juice. We then went straight to the beach afterward. Our time at Playa Hemingway in Juan Dolio was very fun for all of us. Some kids were playing volleyball in the water while others relaxed on the sand. At 11:00 am we went back to the hotel, Fior Di Loto, to get dressed for lunch. The lunch that was served was fried chicken, french fries, fried plantains, salad, and the vegetarian option of rice and broccoli. Shortly after, we took a 4-hour drive back to our hostel in Jarabacoa. The drive was very entertaining because we were singing our hearts out to the music being played, also it was funny seeing the boys sing along to “Let it go”.

As soon as we got back, we had a program seminar to discuss the plans for our upcoming project that will bring potable water to 17 families. After the seminar, we got a head start on our posters for our presentation. At 7:00 pm we had grilled chicken, fried plantains (tostones), vegetables (potatoes, carrots, zucchini), fruit (watermelon & cantaloupe), and the vegetarian option of soyrizo (soy chorizo). We had our nightly meeting to discuss our plans for the next day so that we are prepared.

Ps; I miss you so much Mom and family and I hope you guys are doing well. I will see you in 7 days!! <33 Also, I’m doing great so don’t worry. – Aryanna

PS: I’ve been getting EATEN UP by these mosquitoes guys. I miss you guys so much, all of you. Thank you for letting me go on this great learning experience. I love you guys so much and I can’t wait to go back and see all of you. AGAIN, I love you guys. BYEE – Semiera <3
