Helloooooo to all our friends, family, and supporters who have access to technology, unlike us. This is Alisa and Xyriah checking in for the REMIX. We’re feeling very musical after we sang, “What makes you Beautiful” by One Direction, accompanied by our very own artwork, probably the best piece of art work that your kids have EVER seen. We were the best LDD’s, undisputed, MVPS, the favorites, the best singing duo, but we’re staying humble 😊.

We started our journey as your kids’ nonchalant, beautiful authority figures, and role models (real models BTW (that stands for by the way just FYI (that stands for for your information BTW)) hashtag # face card does not decline (that means we are muy bonita (Spanish for very pretty)). But anyways what we are trying to say is we were shepards 🐑. It was definitely a fight but after 10:30pm, we made it so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. From dragging Itxia out of a room (definitely hers), tickling Jack into his room, and being Uber Eats for Valentin’s second Fanta of the day and Jonathan’s oreo ice cream. The adults were able to sleep peacefully 😴.

Us intelligent LDD’s woke up at 6:00am, with no adults needing to wake us up and everyone was supposed to be woken up at 6:30. But the thing is, that wasn’t the case. Maciela was taking pictures of the sunrise during wake up call, so we thought one of your kids was going back to their old habits of going to rooms that aren’t theirs. Additionally, room 107(Scott, Valentin, and Jonathan’s room), were for sureee glued to their beds, cuddling with each other (flirty, sassy Valentin rolled off his bed just to be closer to sleepy Scotty in the middle bed while I guess Jonathan was third wheeling. Half of Valentin was on Scott’s bed. We will let you guess which half. To justify him I guess, we quote “I always move towards the person I sleep next to. It feels awkward to be so distant and it helps me get to know them better.”). Firstly, we barged in (because of course, their door was unlocked), and we hunted for the light switch in hopes of resetting their circadian rhythms,Valentin demanded a watch from us stellar LDD’s because their entire room does not own a watch and have to rely on the church bell to keep time (Scott, please invest in a form of time keeping besides recurring chimes from a holy place), but this was only the beginning. After we politely and gracefully woke up all the other rooms, we had to check back in with these trouble makers. When we came in once again, someone had rudely turned off the light and found all three musketeers in their “triple king bed” (they pushed the twin bed in between the two kings). Third time is really the lucky charm because shockingly when we came in, Scott, like the guy who infected the whole group with a sleepy disease, was the only one up, brushing his teeth, getting ready. The other two…. No comment. After all this extra attention, this special group was still somehow the last to be down for breakfast, at 7:30am. Our scrumptious first meal of the day chef’ed up by our lovely cooks Hilda and Jenny was strawberry juice, scrambled eggs with vegetables, toast with jam, and cheese. We told everyone to come to breakfast ready to go, but certain people just really wanted to go back up to their rooms for whatever reasons. After we finally got these little goofballs to sit in the bus, Jonathan and Julian went out to go buy swim trunks. We told them to buy swim trunks yesterday during free time. What can we say 🤷♂️. Anywho, we finally started driving after a solid 15 minutes. All these energetic children suddenly turned into sleepy Scotties. Not a single person was safe from the wrath of Alisa’s camera ready to snipe every single person who was napping. Even Ms. Eileen.

After one hour of singing and looooootts of sleeping, we arrived at, Playa Uveruto, a beach resort in Las Tablas 🏖️. As soon as we walked out, we were greeted by a cute tortishell cat 🐈⬛. The resort included a pool and had beach access. I, Alisa, was very eager to go to the beach instantly, but for the time being we were trapped in the pool as we waited for the life guards to explain us the safety rules. As we all got ready, the resort staff fetched out a beautiful orange crab that had purple and pink parts 🦀. There’s so many pictures of said crab, we were all very infatuated. Ask your kids to see this.

During this wait time, we passed the ball around in a circle and tried to maintain an order while adding in a second ball. Once we were ready to swim around in the pool, a herd of excited teenagers attacked this body of water. Marysol was floating near the edge(?), many were just dipping their feet, Valentin and Johnathan were the first to get a NON ALCOHOLIC piña colada, Julianna touched peoples belly buttons, Alisa painted nails, and Jack, Scott, Diigant, Anjali, along other people who came and went played volleyball.

But then, an energetic surprise came. Another delegation located in Las Tablas, glimpsers from New York, came to join us on our fun day. We welcomed them to play volleyball with us, and we were eager to learn their names (some of us. Actually it was like two of us. Alisa and some others. Everyone else was feeling introverted I guess and maybe intimidated). Valentin and Diigant were ESPECIALLY excited about this surprise of sharing the beach for our fun day. Finally, the lifeguards came and our very own home boy Johnny translated for all 40+ people within the two delegations. Trust we gave him a big love. He was the GOAT (greatest of all time btw) translator. Since so many people within our delegation were excited to see these glimpsers from the big apple, they ran to the beach while the New Yorkers played in the pool. And once the New Yorkers went to the beach, our very own CH2D glimpsers sprinted back to the pool (I guess we were trying to social distance). During our time at the beach, there was a flick up session and Xyriah was carried on Julianna’s back walking towards the ocean.

At the pool people were eating snacks just 5 minutes before lunch. Our lunch was a delicious plate of chicken fingers, fries, and a side of salad with the option of coke or some strawberry soda. Julianna with a smudge of Valentin gaslit many people, Ms. Eileen included, to eat their chicken fingers with the salad dressing. After lunch CH2D had round 2 con la playa. This round was very scary for some (specifically for people that knew how to swim). Those that were in the water, all going past shoulder height, Valentin, Julianna, Joseph and Jonathan, did not know how to swim. Correction, Valentin claims he can swim but can’t float or tread water. Special mention to Joseph because it was his first time at the beach. And with them, the three certified lifeguards, Kylie, Scott, and Jack were seen as responsible and were getting unpaid work time to supervise these potential drowning incidents. Thankfully, the workload lightened as Marysol came to the rescue and somehow taught Jonathan how to swim. He started to love the ocean, but it scared Scott who had to drag him back to where he could stand. Jonathan, being not so good of a listener, ended up getting stung by a jellyfish.

During their time in the ocean, Diigant, Catherine, Monse, and Xyriah were passing around the now broken pink volleyball that they had bought the day before on the sand. Valentin has started the claim that the New York kids were the ones to break the ball. He says it’s due to the fact that they love volleyball a little too much. After the majority of the group got tired of being in the ocean, Catherine, Julianna, and Xyriah had dug up a hole to finally bury Jack alive (It was about time after his BS (Beautiful Smile😁)). Rumor has it that a swarm of bees attacked the pool for 15 seconds and they had to stand still. Also, Valentin has given this information that the sand was so hot, it was burning his feet, and he had to steal the lifeguards slides. Also we forgot when but Xyriah climbed onto Alisa’s back just like she had done to Julianna. Just two excellent, outstanding, bonita LDD leaders just leading by example, having fun on the fun day. After the sand, piña coladas (NON ALCOHOLIC), and many many sunburns, we ventured back to the hotel.

Another one hour bus ride filled with even more sleeping beauties and singing and sand, we had arrived. We had to wish our amazing bus driver, Efrain, gracias for one last time ☹️.Our free time after we returned was spent in many different ways. Kylie,Sam, Masiella, and Julian went to the bakery and a souvenir shop around the corner (Alisa tried some of Julian’s Dubai chocolate brownie that was so fire). Xyriah, Anjali, Monse, Julianna, Marisol, Jonathan, and Catherine met Valentin, Diigant, Scott, and Joseph in the very much loved Carolina’s Cafe. The guys went to The Drop store, a zumiez knock off store and the rest went to get ice cream. Just a few stayed behind to shower and make our final phone calls to our very much worried parents. Once everyone returned to the hotel, you’ll never guess who went upstairs to take a nap. Late to dinner and made us (patient, kind, loving, and caring LDD’s) have to experience their room once more. Xyriah took off the blanket and Alisa had to literally drag Valentin and Scott out of bed. The bed squeaked when I dragged Scott out… Hella loud according to Valentin. Finally it is time for dinner. Thank you if you had read this far (that better be you Alla Bulatov and Jennifer Gamata ❤️make sure to comment queens we love you). For dinner, we had yummy beef burrito with an option of fanta or coke. Valentin was very excited to have the coke but unfortunately Marysol had only rice in her burrito 😞. Shortly after, our role as LDD’s were coming to an end. At the nightly meeting, everyone told us that they are so thankful, they have never had nor will have better, we were so cool, so helpful, so responsible, and very humble as well. When answering the question from yesterday, which was “how can we use our precious time together to create moments of joy and belonging”, many people mentioned Scott’s nap disease and his hardest hitting victim, Anjali. Our night concluded with passing the torch to our very own baddies (this is a good thing in the youth’s slang) duo, Sam and Masiela. Their talent was being able to talk to the sea animals, and so they made us close our eyes, and they made a dolphin (?) noise.

P.S. We definitely wrote the best blog btw your welcome and we broke the record for the longest (in length not in time time cough cough Diigant and Valentin).
Heyyy, this is Xyriah! Being Leader of The Day was very interesting for suree. There was a lot of running around looking and talking to the glimpsers but it was all very fun! I learned a lot about communication, taking action, time management, and taking initiative. Although it was a lot, Fun day was such a great day to be an LDD.
Hi everyone, this is Alisa! One thing I learned about being a leader during this experience was you could be well prepared but there’s always a curveball. We planned to have everyone go down 5 mins early for breakfast and yet everyone was still late, so we made it 10 minutes for dinner. Safe to say these silly goofballs made today very exciting and unlike any leadership opportunity I have ever had. 😛
