Day 4 in Turrialba was themed Fun Day. We begun the day with eating french toast and eggs for breakfast. Afterwards plans were to depart to Las Trillizas which is a beautful hike with a waterfall at the end of it. Due to weather issues, we skipped on the hike and departed to La Universidad de Costa Rica via local transportation. We learned about Columbian Setlement in one of their museums on campus. After spending time looking at murals, statues, and paintings, we headed off to a local Farmers Market where many of us were able to buy goods and accesories such as bracelets. Once again we took pubic transportation which was cut short to walk through the vibrant setting of streets back to Base House. From there we had lunch where our wonderful chefs Diego and Emilia cooked us arroz con carne. Next we watched a documentary to get us prepared for our first CAP Seminar where a women name Karla taught us about Bio Diversity and Rehibilitation. An interesting fact we learned about as a group during the Seminar is how Costa Rica is one of the happiest countries in the world. We discussed the reason being is becuause how close one another is to the beautful nature here unlike back home. We then had our last meal of the day being Pastel de Yucca con enselada. Before going to sleep, finally we had our Nightly Meeting where we passed the torch to Chris and Anthony, the new LDD´s for tomorrow. The quote of the day was ¨A hero is someone who understands their responsibility that comes with his freedom ¨ – Bob Dylan
Xavi- When I look at this quote it reminds me of people that don´t have a lot of power and tends to be small actions that makes a big difference. Like what we are doing we don´t have alot of power but we are making changes for the better.
Ryan- This quote reminds me of so many people who have been activists in their life but also of a person we watched a video on duing our Seminar. We learned about a man that was able to restore damaged soils back in his village that was destroyed from a desert storm. He was talked bad about by not just people in the villiage but also his family. Once his method of bringing the soils back to life was put in place, he was apreciated by all the people and ev en earend respect from people. He was named a hero.
