Thursday, July 7th was spent traveling to Riobamba and welcoming the R3B3 students to the city of Riobamba. We had an 8 am wake-up call in order to be ready for breakfast at our hotel at 9 am. We had fruit, eggs, and toast for breakfast and the ever-present coffee and tea. We packed our bags and Jorge loaded them on the bus. While on the bus, Kareen entertained us with a game called Mafia, where many students participated. However, once the game ended, many students fell asleep, as one can see from the attached photos.
Once we checked in at the Rio Hotel, the students received their roommate assignments. They dropped off their luggage in their rooms and we headed to Roma Santa to eat rice with spicy aji sauce, two types of chicken, and salad with blueberry juice. We returned to the hotel to officially welcome students to Ecuador and Riobamba and held our first seminar. We chose the Líder del Día for all of the days of our stay here. The adult leadership team met with the LDD for the next day and prepared them for the passing of the baton.
We returned to Roma Santa for dinner, where we had boiled potatoes, fried chicken, thinly-cut beef, and a carrot and cucumber salad with a side of cake. After dinner, we returned to our hotel for our nightly meeting. Our PCs passed the baton (two ponchos) to Chloe and Teishani. In order for that to happen, they needed to show off their talents. Tish showed off their flexibility and Chloe showed off their oil painting that was made to honor her grandmother. Good luck to Chloe and Tish tomorrow.
