Community Day (No. 13)

Hi! Everyone this is Jasmine and Shula coming on to the blog to let you all know how it’s going. Today was a very early and busy day we woke up early in the morning (6 AM). We had breakfast and started to get ready for the day. Then we headed out to meet our host families in El Yaque del Norte. We were all split into different groups. Some of us worked with families to mop and clean. Others like Aymen, Rosie, Marysabela, and Jamyriah worked on preparing lunch with a family in the community. After having that amazing food we then had some free time in order to explore more parts of the community while also being able to buy some treats to bring back home. We also got the chance to play with many of the kids in the community like Isabella, Jandra, and Johnson. We then all headed back to the Villa in order to finish preparing for the community action project. Many of us started to make calls back home which was very emotional but great to do. Once that was done we all headed over to start cleaning up and putting on our best outfits to give the presentation to the community. Once starting to present there were many of those including myself (Jasmine) and Nisha that were working on translating for the group from English to Spanish. Once that was all done many of us were just hanging out and relaxing before dinner. Then we went on to our nightly meeting. Now we are here writing up the blog while everyone prepares to head to bed. Thank you all again for all the love and support.

Students who didn’t reach home today will continue to call. Parents be on the lookout for a call from a random number!

Brendalys, getting a phone call and listening to your beautiful voice brightened up my day that much more! Deijan kept checking on me to make sure I wasn’t crying LOL but we were all so happy to talk to you!! My heart is so happy each day I read the blog and see how much fun you and your peers are having making a difference in the community. Counting down the days to hug you and annoy you ? I am very much impressed by the pictures you paint for us with your description of your day through this blog. I look forward to reading each and every one of them. I was very glad to hear from Kyla (even though she sounded like she was under water) as I am sure the other families were to hear from their teens. Kyla if you couldn’t hear me clearly, LOVE you so much and I MISS you too. I am very proud of all of you and hope you continue to enjoy this adventure.
