No more capping time to start packing

Holaaaa a todos desde la República Dominicana 🇩🇴, Beto y Vivian reporting to you from the dining table. Today we started off our morning waking up at the crack of dawn with no water to start the morning but luckily we had plastic bowls and water gallons for our needs and of course Emmie came to the rescue to fix the water before we woke everyone up. Anyways, we started the morning off with a classic American breakfast, we had corn flakes with a variety of different milks and yogurt, with a side of fruit which was their juicy pineapple and watermelon. (Side note not sure if they mentioned it but the warm carton milk is a total culture shock.) We washed that down with a delicious tutti fruity juice AKA fruit punch. After we downed our breakfast, we prepared for our final long hours at CAP and loaded all of our tools into our safari mobile. Then we headed down to our CAP worksite. When we arrived to CAP it was game on to start working. We began to break off into four groups to finish two murals we had started and start two murals Victor had given us. Luckily the garden was already finished so we had all day to focus on our wonderful works of art. After we all parted our ways into our groups we locked in real fast in the scorching humid weather with nothing but a paintbrush in our hands and a clear vision of finishing this CAP project. After working for a a couple hours and jamming to music and others listening to the supportive honks from the Jarabacoa community members driving by on the streets, it was now time to head to the villa for some lunch. Where our amazing chefs had a delicious meal ready for us. We had a unique Dominican meal which was Sancocho, with some white rice and aguacate on the side😋. Many of you back home may be curious of what deliciousness this is. It’s a blend of diferentes carnes, yuca, plátanos, papas, y auyama in a yummy and very flavorful broth. To wash this all down, we had an agua de limón which has been our personal top favorite agua. It was super refreshing and flavorful🍋‍🟩🥤! After lunch we let our food settle while we all hung out and played some intense games of UNO ’til it was time to head back to our CAP worksite. On the bus ride there we were all anxious to finish our murals. Once we arrived we were fueled to finish all the murals that Daniel proposed to us to try and finish an hour quicker which you know what that means… game faces on! We all separated to our murals and started working hard. Luckily we had el maestro de arte helping us on our two big murals, getting the upper hand; unfortunately we did not meet Daniels proposal with us finishing at 4 o’clock instead of 4:30. But that just shows how much of our hard work, sweat and dedication went into painting these murals. But we cannot forget to give a big shout out to Plan Yaque, Victor, Luka, y el Maestro de Arte for this opportunity and their support. Without them none of this would be possible. Through this process we learned how team work, communication, and dedication is needed to make an impact in the community and how much collaboration is key to making differences. We will never forget this big project we did for the kids in the community and I hope they enjoy it as much as we enjoyed planning and executing this project 🥳💛! After finishing our CAP, everyone was very exhausted and ready to go shower but we still had a couple of stops on our way back to the villa. The first stop being a local souvenir shop where we all flooded the tiny shop. (You know what that means… a gift on the way for all of you 😉) While some of us finished shopping, our fellow glimpsers went next door to get a much needed pick me up Bon ice cream. After that Vivian and I had something up our sleeves and that’s what leads us to our last and final stop of the day. A local super market where we decided to buy a variety of Dominican snacks and, of course, a 1 liter crispy coke which has been highly missed. We arrived to the villa and gathered everyone to our dining area where we gave them the good news that we had an extra hour of free time and to reward them with the snacks we bought at the super market, for working super hard in the CAP project and finishing. Many of them were super happy and we got time to relax, eat snacks and play board games to end the day off. We then went into dinner where we had our last dinner at the villa which was mashed potatoes, plantains, mashed plantains, fried eggs, scrabbled eggs with salami and fried cheese and of course our fresh cut fruit. YUMM!!! To wrap the night up, we had our nightly meeting where we touched on big topics and passed the torch to our last LDDS of the trip. We also began to express our appreciation for one another and how much we will all miss the trip but also how we are ready to go home and see you all. We would like to give a special shout out to Devin for being so thoughtful and writing out and sharing his favorite qualities from each of us. We appreciate you Devin😎! And that’s a wrap for CAP now time to start getting for our final day in the DR🫶✌️.

P.S. Mom when we get back home we want Korean bbq😝. You better leave a comment. We love and miss you guys sososo much🧡!
