Hola! These are your Leaders Del Dia: Logan Eaton-Strong, Jayden Perez and Brandon Brown. We were inducted last night through the most astonishing talent show ever seen: Brandon squatting Logan and Jayden on his shoulders while Jayden dribbled a ping pong ball on a racket and Logan played hot cross buns on the slide whistle. Today was our last CAP day, working with a different organization this time named the Asada. The Asada provides water for thousands of people in the nearby area by collecting and cleaning water from natural springs. Working with them our final CAP day proved to be a success despite some setbacks due to weather.
Jayden here, I will start talking about the morning portion of our day. So me and the boys woke up and did our daily morning routine including our 100 push-ups and 200 jump ropes. The morning went pretty smooth and we had a bomb breakfast, thanking Diego of course (we made a secret handshake) involving some french toast, eggs, sausage, yogurt, bananas, and some orange juice. Due to weather conditions we had to change our schedule and what we were going to do for our CAP project today. So the bus arrived and we made a quick stop to the Asada headquarters and learned more about how the water pipes works and the objective for today’s project. Then finally we arrived to the springs and started our work.
Hey everyone, it’s Logan. Our work at the Asada originally included painting and improving the chain link fences protecting the water pipes in the natural spring, however due to weather our responsibilities changed and we began improving the spring in other ways. The group quickly picked up other work as there were plenty of tasks to do, shoutout to the whole squad for staying flexible and ready as that was a big priority throughout all of CAP. We cleaned up the entire spring by shoveling and raking leaves, clearing out rocks, and removing weeds that were compromising visibility or interfering with pipes. Unfortunately our work at the spring was in the middle of the woods (with centipedes and scorpions everywhere) and there weren’t as many bathrooms available to us as the other CAP days which made work a little more difficult. Luckily there were more opportunities at lunch when we met Diego at the soccer fields from previous days and we had a nice lunch of rice, meat, beans and salad. The group was extra productive upon return to the spring and we were able to leave slightly early, with a stop at a nearby bakery on the way home.
After visiting the bakery we made it back to the lodge, most people ate their pastries and treats they bought. After that we had free time and a chance to call home. Everyone took the chance to call home and show their families the friends they’ve made over the past week. Some people spent their free time in the pool while others spent their time talking on the porch. After that, Diego served nachos for dinner. We finished the night off with our nightly meeting where we passed the torch to Asma and Kate.
To my family love and miss you a lot and can’t wait to see you guys soon! – Jayden
