Day 3 – COMMUNITY DAY & SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

PURA VIDA! Hello family and friends. These are your Global Glimpse Leaders speaking to you today – Jazmin Galindo, Ally Sicha, Roxana Perez. We are beyond grateful and blessed to have spent time in Turriubula, Costa Rica where we had the opportunity to explore the beauties of what the country offers. From tasting the traditional foods plantains, frescos, empanadas, and cass, to gaining exposure to family local life in Santa Rosa, which has opened new perspectives for the glimpsers. Here are some words from each leaders experience for Day 3 of our COSTA RICA TRIP!

Hola Ma y Pa!! Soy Ally y les queria decir que estoy bien y mi estomago tambien! La comida que nos dan es muy buena. We started our day bright in the morning at 6 o’clock. Some of the glimpsers spend their morning working out along the pool while others were barely waking up and getting ready. Then chef Diego prepared some delicious pancakes along with black berry and strawberry yogurt. He also served us some Cass juice which is a special fruit only found in Costa Rica. After a full stomach we headed to three different families home by foot. It was kind of scary since we were so high up in the mountains but we stopped by different areas around the town like schools, churches, and stores. I visted Adriana house along with other glimper’s. We were greeted with open arms and many games she had to offer. The family were World Cup lovers so we spent some time watching and disscusing the tournament.

Today, the main focus of the day was spending time with a family in Santa Rosa. Apart from being able to make empanadas and tortillas with them, we were able to ask them questions in order to learn more about life in Costa Rica. I was really curious about how life in a more rural part in Costa Rica works and how Costa Rica’s communities are organized. I learn that most people in Santa Rosa need to go to other bigger towns/cities for work. However, the community is instead growing, since a lot of people from San Jose are starting to move here. Also, we were able to learn about different supports that are given to the people, such as clinic/resources centers that need to be at every Distric. It was also interesting to learn about the volcano that is close to Santa Rosa, that despite being pretty big, is not dangerous. I really enjoy this day because I was able to interact with the locals and learn more about their life.

Hello familia! This is the one and only Jazmin Galindo. Oh yeah!!! I’m doing well Mom, Dad and Sisters. And yes mom, I did clean my water bottle every single day. We had the opportunity to be leaders of the day and show others how to set a good example of how to become the next upcoming leaders. We had a delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We visited families and learned how to cook empanadas and tortillas. And we were able to learn more about the Costa Rica culture including the school system, issues within the country that the people are working to fix, and Costa Rica slangs. There is a lot more to tell, but it is worth talking in-person. I can’t wait to share with you guys what I learned. Love you very much and sweet dreams. And by the way, MEXICO WON!!! We will celebrate back home together and enjoy a family dinner once again. 🙂
