Buenas noches everyone! Today was CAP Day 2 and leaders are Nayeli, Rue, and Edward. We woke up bright and early, starting the day off with ham, cheese, and veggies sandwiches. The house we worked on was for an elderly couple, Ramona and her husband, who have special needs. We started off our work with mixing concrete and, later, passed buckets to specialized concrete workers. The floor was mostly done before we headed back to our hotel for lunch. For lunch, we had Sancocho and rice. After resting, we headed back to the community to get back to our hard work.
After we returned to the community, we got right back to work! We continued to pass buckets full of cement back and forth until we finished our second cement floor for two more wonderful community members. Afterward, we returned to Hotel Dilenia with quite a bit of free time on our hands. Some of us chose to go on a hike and see Constanza from a beautiful vantage point, others decided to give the market a visit and pick up whatever was needed, and others yet chose to stay back at the hotel and get some rest. At around 5:30 in the evening, we had a group meeting and discussed writing our first drafts of appreciation letters for the people who have supported us throughout this roller coaster-like journey. Said drafts were due later tonight!
8:00pm was the dinner bell, eating not only hot dogs, chili, corn and also a slice of cake. Happy belated birthday to Claire! She may have tried to keep it a secret but we still had a celebration for her. After dinner, our nightly meeting was held in room 15. As we discussed our roses and thorns of the day, many laughs and smiles were seen and heard all around. The torches were passed, talents were seen and the day came to and end. As the trip itself progresses, so do the friendships that we have made from day one.
Before we end the blog, Rue would like to say that Sofia Gigante deserved better! Nayeli also wants to give a shoutout to her brother, Nicolas Calderon. Happy Birthday. “I’m sorry I can’t be there but I will make sure to make it up once I come back. I wish you the best birthday! Love you!”
As a reminder, comments from the blog will be read so be sure to reach out and leave comments!
Much love, Edward, Rue and Nayeli!

Happy Birthday, Claire! I know we don’t know each other but it doesn’t hurt to spread the birthday wishes to you!
Sounds like another productive day!
Aaron, I’m super excited to see you! Laura asked about you today. Your dad shared the blog with her. Your grandparents are asking too! This is another reason why, great PHOTOS ❤️ will make the trip come alive for all of us & help you hold on to the memories you made!
I love you!
We are all going out to dinner when you land. Tyson is invited to join, & we’ll have Willow with us. I think we are going to In N Out. Hopefully you miss burgers…
See you very soon! Chew gum when you are in the final descent.
Love,
Mom

Buenas noches from San Francisco everyone! You guys are crushing it! Pouring cement floors sounds like hard work. Maybe you all should start your own business when you get back to SF.
Happy birthday Claire.
Aaron, Isla said it’s weird that you’re in a totally different country, and I had to agree. It is weird with you being so far away. At a work meeting the other day I told all of my colleagues where you were and what you were doing and how proud I was of you and they were all super impressed. Doug, our PIO, told me how cool that was and told me about the time he worked on an Indian reservation his senior year. Very cool. My friend Dyanna said she knows someone with Global Glimpse, but I can’t remember the name of the person.
Anyway, Willow said you sounded happy, and you look happy in the photos, so that makes me happy. You’ll keep this experience with you for the rest of your life and you’ll be a better person for it. I am really proud of you.
Look forward to seeing you soon.
Love, Dad.
-ps – keep up the great work everyone! You’re making a difference in people’s lives and you should all be proud of that.
Peace out.

Volunteering can provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. You are doing good for others and the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment. Your role as a volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity. Gratitude is felt for having a daughter who cares deeply about the community. Keep up the great work! Nico says thank you and that you better make it up, lol. Sleep well and rest easy. Love you

Hi C1A, this is Nick the GG alumni intern! I actually travelled to Constanza in 2022 (i was in the C1B delegation) and it seems that you all are enjoying and making the most out of this wonderful experience! I hope Hotel Dilenia is just as wonderful as I remember it (if you can take home some of their coffee it’s amazing!!!), and if you can I’d recomend trying to get your hands on some Carne Asada flavored chips (I’ve only been able to find them in Constanza and thats not for a lack of trying).
Big love to all of y’all!
Nick
