Hola friends and family!
Today’s Leaders of the day were me (Vedha) and Angel! The group had a very fun day working on a farm! Today’s wake-up call time was 5:15 in the morning. It was so early!! Then we had breakfast and we hit the road to a local farm nearby. There, we fed and petted some baby goats. They were very very cute!! Then we split into 2 teams, one collecting and wrapping hay, and the other collecting and cutting plants for the animals to eat. Next, we transplanted around 100 saplings of trees so that they could then be planted into the ground. After doing this, we dug holes around 6 inches deep and then planted the saplings into the ground. It was tiring!! The sun was beating down on us, so a lot of us definitely stepped out of our comfort zone! Then, we headed back home for lunch, where we had beef, rice, beans, and potatoes. After that, many of us went to town and got some supplies, and many stayed back and hit snooze for a bit. At around 4:30 in the afternoon, we made letters of appreciation to our donors and supporters and thanked them for their time and resources. That was pretty much it for day 6!! Let’s hope we survive tomorrow LOL! We start our day at 4:30 AM. Wish us luck!

Thank you for the write up Angel and Vedha. One of the difficult things about being Leader of the Day is making sure other students are getting up so it must have been tough with a 5:15am wake up time. Sounds like you all got a ‘real’ experience working in a local agricultural setting and we’re always glad to hear that you all had to step out of your comfort zone. But you all make it and are hopefully more understanding of some other people’s jobs as a result.

Hi Vedha! I hope you had an amazing time as leader of the day (even though you had to wake up really early). Those goats are adorable. I hope your trip has been good so far!

5:15 is very early, but looks like it worth it.

Beautiful photos, TA1A, and what a fun day! It must have felt pretty special to feed baby goats. Thanks for bringing us along in a special way through your experience.
Big love!
