Biocultural Diversity

HEY GUYS !!! It’s Aubrey and Coco; welcome back to our blog!  ?

For breakfast, we had a selection of fruits, such as papaya, banana, grapes, and pineapple, along with grilled cheese. For lunch, we had chicken with a traditional sauce and mixed veggie rice, which we all agree was the best meal we have had so far. For dinner, we had some pasta with veggies. all of our meals prepared by Angie were delicious as always, so big love to her.

Today, we had lots of free time, which we spent splitting up into two groups to walk to stores. The group that both of us were in went to a local coffee shop where we obnoxiously laughed with each other while sharing drinks and snacks, after we left the coffee shop, we went to Meca Chitre, where we all shopped for a variety of things before heading to super 99 to buy some snacks for our rooms <3

We had a ton of presentations today about a good variety of things. The first presentation was about water and water purification in Panama, and the second presentation was about the Ngoble Bugle people. The second presentation was AWESOME because we learned two different indigenous dances led by our lovely presenter Vielka.

Our third presentation was about the culture of the Guna people. in this presentation, our presenter talked about the culture and ways their people lived, including the different parties and traditions they had as a community and sentimental pieces close to their culture, such as moles, which were traditional women’s clothing.

Today’s topic was biodiversity. All of our presentations tied into the local people and nature around us, which taught us all about how different many cultures can be, even when they are extremely close together.

Today was an extremely meaningful day for us since we had people coming in and sharing what means the most to them. We loved hearing all of the information and stories they had to share, and we look forward to all of the knowledge that will come from the rest of this incredible trip. ? See all of today’s pictures here!

A shoutout to our parents, Cocos’s brother, and Clara + Aubrey’s twin sister and older brother! We miss you!
