Hello Glimpsers! Ms. Holly here! I am a Spanish, PE and garden teacher at Berkeley High’s Independent Study program. I’m finishing my 24th year as a high school teacher this month!! I’ve taught Spanish for 5 years and before that have taught English, English as a Second Language, Social studies and Environmental Education.
The end of the school year can be exciting and strange at the same time! What to do with our sudden free time!? I am looking forward to reading more books and spending more time outdoors gardening, trail running and visiting with friends and family this month. How about you all?
I was last in the Dominican Republic with Global Glimpse in 2018 and had an incredible time with a great group of students. I learned so much about the culture, history and ecology of Hispaniola. The people we met were all warm, engaged and truly wanting to connect and share ideas. I am looking forward to going back to this special island and immersing myself in some tropical heat and personal growth with you all!
I had the chance to meet Ms. Harris for an iced tea and a walk a few weeks ago and I know that we will make a good team!
We’ll be calling you in a few weeks to introduce ourselves again to you and to briefly chat with you and your family to see if you have any questions or concerns before our trip.
To begin to get to know each other a little more, it would be fantastic (and brave) of you if you could share a photo of yourself and tell us a few things about yourself. (still figuring out how to add a pic here.. Seems like you can drag a picture from your desktop into the blog)
Some things you could share: Favorite or new hobbies? Your preferred musical artists / genres of music right now? A tech free way you like to relax? a game or activity you might like to play/ do with others when we have down time? Are you a morning person or a night person? What do you feel will be the biggest challenge for you about this trip? How much will you miss your phone? One quality that you will be adding to the group dynamic?
I like to dance, work out, and stretch regularly and find it gives me energy. I would love an accountability buddy or team to do occasional morning or evening workout sessions! When traveling with others, it can be fun to play dominoes or cards when we have down time. I also love to read, and try to do a sketch in my journal every now and then. I am enthusiastic and will bring extra positivity to the trip!
Look forward to getting to know you all and traveling with you soon!!!

Hello, Glimpsers!
My name is Ms. Sampson, and I’m so excited to be part of this journey with you! I’ll be easy to spot—I’m the one wearing pink in the picture . While this will be my first time traveling with the Global Glimpse Program, I’m no stranger to travel. I’ve had the privilege of visiting various countries and immersing myself in different cultures, and I can’t wait to explore the Dominican Republic alongside all of you.
By day, I’m a paraeducator at James Logan High School in Union City, working with incredible students with special needs. I LOVE what I do—it’s my passion.
When I’m not working, you can catch me spending time with family, playing games, going on walks, reading, or planning my next travel escape!
Let’s make this trip unforgettable! I can’t wait to laugh, learn, and grow with you all.
