NO CAP Discovery

DAY #4 Chitré, Panamá

Our day began bright and early at 7:00 in the morning with high hopes knowing we were going to begin our C.A.P project (Community, Action, Project). All of us ate a hearty breakfast consisting of scrambled egg with onions, toast, oatmeal(crema), and a fruit salad. We departed to Santa María bilingual school at 10am where we were welcomed by Katha from Peace Corps where we started 1/3 of our project, the discovery phase.

There we saw their unique educational system, and way of self sustaining through growing their own produce on garden beds and raising their own lifestock; including chicken and fish. We were blown away by their commitment and how the community comes together as a whole to provide for themselves.

Our discovery phase concluded with a Q&A with the principal of the school giving us greater insight on the innerworkings of their school. This is where we were finally bestowed with the task of creating a nursury for their tree farm.

Little did we know what would be in store for us. All of the information and how we were going to design our project overwhelmed the entire group. Despite the challenges, we persevered through it and we were able to come together after we all took time to reflect. Refueled ourselves with delicious grilled pork, rice with vegetables, yuca fries, cucumber and tomato salad. We rejoined together and brainstormed a design for 2/3 part of our CAP project in designing.

Today was a test for not only us as indivduals, but also as a group, as we had to come together to find a solution we can all agree upon and be proud of. We finished the day passing the torch by watching our new hardworking leaders perform a dance to the rest of the group.

Signing off,

Isaac & Abraham
