Day in the life of learning how to be a community.

Hello family and friends, it’s Jasmin and Nevaeh here! Student leaders of the day 🙂 We hope you enjoy this as much as we’re enjoying our time here!

This morning, we realized our true purpose for traveling to Costa Rica: learning how we, as a community, can help out San Rafael, the community we’re staying with. We learned about the materials and skills we’ll need to complete one of the most challenging but enriching aspects of the Global Glimpse program our community action project!

In this poster, we are preparing for a project that involves digging and placing pipes in the humid terrain, with the goal of providing water to even more areas than before, continuing the work that the previous Glimpsers started.

Similar to the positive qualities, such as community, that the previous activity provided, we also prepared for our cultural exchange with kids who are taking time out of their break to meet us and learn about our culture, as well as share theirs. We’ll be using games and activities to help us get to know each other.

Finally, after a day of learning how to enrich and connect with both of our communities, we put it into practice ourselves playing football in the rain, doing rock-paper-scissors (which I Jasmin, won, by the way), and hiking to the local market to grab snacks for our movie night (final destination: snacks!).

Today was a day to catch up and prepare ourselves for the hard work ahead of us in the coming days as a community- here’s our beautiful sunset from our community room.
