Hello friends and family,
Today’s leaders were Bryan, Daniel, and Jenny. For breakfast, we had pancakes, eggs, buttered toast, and some refreshing watermelon juice. After fueling up, we headed to the school to continue working on our project.
At the school, we focused all our energy on the fence but quickly realized we had limited supplies. So, we shifted gears and began stabilizing the fence posts by packing in more dirt and rocks around them. After about an hour of focused work on the fence, we split into groups to also begin painting the murals. With fewer people in each area, everyone was able to use the tools more freely. This allowed us to work faster on the fence while also making steady progress on the murals.
After about three hours of hard work and bonding, we headed back to the ranch to recharge and eat lunch. Later, we returned to the school and jumped right back into work mode, continuing with the fence and murals. By the end of the day, we completed the mural by painting our hands and stamping them onto the tree in the design. We also used up the rest of the available materials to finish as much of the fence as possible — and it looked amazing.

Before leaving, we thanked Rodrigo, who had been with us all three days and served as an incredible role model. He thanked us as well, saying we were an outstanding group and that he appreciated our strong teamwork and chemistry. After saying our goodbyes to the school community, we returned to the ranch, showered, and took some time to relax after a long day of effort.
In the evening, we gathered in the dining area for a group reflection on both our personal and group strengths and weaknesses. We talked about how we can apply what we’ve learned during our CAP days to our everyday lives. Dinner was fantastic — a barbecue with pork chops, chicken, sausage, and grilled vegetables.
After dinner, we met in our small conference room to reflect on the quote and question of the day:
“What have you learned from working with the community? Who’s one person you will miss seeing?”
“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage — to move in the opposite direction.” – E.F. Schumacher
We discussed the strengths of today’s leadership and what we could improve for next time. To wrap up the evening, we passed the torch to the next day’s leaders following their fun talent show.
Throughout the day, we also had help from local community members who joined us in painting and brought a real sense of connection to the project. Our team also worked on raising parts of the fence. During our breaks, there was lots of dancing and silly jokes that kept the energy high. I (Jenny) even started singing “Baby” by Justin Bieber with Barbara — it was sooo fun! And during lunch, some of us were jamming to Hamilton while doing our CAP work.
Dinner was another delicious meal, BBQ featuring chicken, macaroni, tortillas, pork chops, and plantains. As our time here winds down, we’ve started reflecting on the experiences we’ve shared and thinking about what comes next after leaving the Rancho (ehm, Villa). Some of us have even started packing for the journey back home.
P.S I miss my seven cats. I can’t wait to see all my friends and family. I miss yall soooooo muchhhhhhh!!! NGL imma miss the food here.. #Ineed2go2gymagain #bigbackactivities #VILLA #ILOVEDR well byeeeeeee kisses XOXO 😀 – Jenny
I´ve had such an amazing time today! Being able to work with everyone and bond over so many moments is the immersion trip´s cherry on top. Although I was feeling ill not too long ago, I truly believe a big reason I´ve felt so much better is because of how caring and kind they are.
PS – Hey mom and dad! You have nothing to worry about because I am safe and sound. Do not be too worried because I don´t plan on staying here haha! I love you guys and can´t wait to see all of you again soon!
