Day 8: CAP DAY 2!!

Hi it’s Keyley, Olivia, and Sara! Today was our second day at the community action project; another hard day at work… In the morning at 07:00, we woke up everybody to get ready for breakfast at 08:00. Our wonderful house chefs made us sunny-side up eggs, salami, watermelon, and toast to fuel our day in the sun. Then we rode the bus to the school to continue our hop scotch paintings and fences. At 12:00, we went back to our accommodation to eat lunch. We had rice, beef, tomato’s, cucumber, and watermelon. After our meal, we headed back to our CAP location to continue our work. Around 16:30, we headed back to the accommodation for free time until dinner at 19:00. Our delegation swam, played cards, chatted, and read books. For dinner our lovely chefs made us French fries, chicken tenders, and watermelon. After, we had our nightly meeting and passed the torch to Mia, Denise, and Yaneidi so they could be LDDs for Day 9. Then we had free time until 22:00 and lights out at 22:30.

Que lo que, it’s Sara! I’m from Arroyo High in San Lorenzo. I am very proud of our delegation for making so much progress on our work because we finished two out of three hopscotch trails and our fence. Honestly, being Leader of the Day was a bit rough for me because some kids said I was too serious so I guess I wasn’t fun enough for them. But Luz and Luis supported me and my partners so we ended the day better. I’ve heard many times before the trip to not let other peoples opinions influence my authentic self. And today was a reminder of that. Even though today was a little frustrating, I still feel like I relearned something about myself and how I can improve my leadership skills. Very grateful to everyone here and at home! Shout out to my mama, papa, Ella, and Arthur!

Hola! My name is Keyly, I’m from Pittsburg High School, in Pittsburg California. I’m happy that the day of today, we were able to get a lot of things done at a kids school. We did things such as paint hopscotches, build a color pencil fence, and make disability signs. In just 2 days, we were able to complete so much. We finished the color pencil fence and 3 hopscotches, it was good teamwork. So I’m really proud of our delegation for their hardwork and commitment. I’ve learned a lot from this day, as I got to be a leader. I think that one of my biggest areas of improvement could’ve been confidence and presence. It was a really hard day to lead, due to the fact there were challenges I faced which caused me to hesitate to step up. I feel like from this I’ve learned what works best for me. You know what they say, you know yourself best. Saludos a mi mama, papa y mis hermanos!

Que lo que! (What’s up!) I’m Olivia, I go to Summit Tahoma in South San Jose. Honestly I am so proud of our delegation. As soon as we arrived at the school no one is standing around; the phrase of “Busy Bees” can really be used. I can’t believe how creative and determined we all are and I LOVE IT! Today definitely presented some challenges in the beginning but as the day went on it smoothed out. Being LDD has really taught me or more of reminded me that it’s definitely important to stay true to yourself and don’t let external factors tear you down. The day had a sweet ending with everyone enjoying each others company and playing games. Lots of love and gratitude to my amazing partners❤️! Shout out to Mum, Grandma, Nelson, Christian and Seth. I hope everything is well and I can’t wait to see you all d:D
