KLK (QUE LO QUE!!!) My name is Solomon and I am a rising senior at Cupertino High School traveling with Global Glimpse this summer. Today, Thursday, the group began their first work day for the Community Action Project (CAP) involving digging, painting, stenciling, and several other hands-on kind of work. I believe I took away many lessons from today’s collected work, most importantly collaboration and unity. Every single person was working together or on their own individual task with scarce signs of stall movement. This kind of teamwork was also surprising as most of us were all strangers not even a week ago! I’m immensely proud of the fact of how much we were able to complete today with the painting and the color pencil fence since that process took a lot of people to sand the wood, paint it, cut it, and nail it precisely on the fence. Seeing this in the eyes of a Líder Del Día was very inspiring since a lot of the coordination and instructing was operated my myself, Isaac, and Andrew. Watching our voices have impact on a large group of teenagers was very inspiring, even when we got weird looks for being loud and obnoxious to some folks. Reflecting back on today in my own personal perspective, I can see why a lot of tasks get done in the real world when everything is coordinated and split into groups, along with an appropriate schedule. Today was a great start and introduction to the service aspect of our journey and experience. Have fun looking at the photos and the two good-looking curly heads.
KLK mis amigos y mis padres. My name is Isaac Mohammed Smith and I am an upcoming senior at Castro Valley High School traveling to the Dominican Republic with Global Glimpse this summer. Today, Thursday July 31st, the delegation transported to a Dominican Elementary school in Jarabacoa, thus beginning our Community Action Project (CAP) which intends to refurbish the quality and conditions of its current state. The group worked notably hard together which in turn formed new connections and overtly brought us and the community closer together. Today, we worked on sanding wood which would ultimately result in a crayon that works as a fence (as shown above), stenciling/repainting fhe design on handicap symbols around the school, digging holes for a replacement fence, and a group painted a very beautiful design filled with animales y my colores for a new hop scotch location at the school. Something my peers and I learned today was the actual meaning behind our work here as some of the children of the school had been helping us with large smiles on their faces. It shows the genuine effect our work had which I believe motivated us significantly more. I give special credits to Sarah for designing and showing qualities of a leader through her commitment and passion in order to fulfill her view. Despues, we had lunch back at the villa thanks to our very special cooks who make food for u everyday. I find it difficult to believe I have only been here 7 days and have formed so many great connections with people I have only known a week. Being leader of the today today was an amazing experience being able to share it with two of my closest friends here Solomon and Andrew; Two amazing people. Our group showed great signs of leadership and commitment through our hard work at the school so I believe past generations have no need to worry about the future leaders of the world when you have an amazing group like delegation JA2C. I myself and the group as a whole is having an amazing time so no need to worry padres. Closing off, I second what Solomon had said left you off with above. Have fun looking at pictures of two great looking curly heads. QUE LO QUE.
Hi I’m Andrew What my peers and I learned today was how to work with each other despite the differences in backgrounds. One thing I am proud of from my peers was how quickly we accomplished goals when we delegated tasks to one another where one group would paint another would work on a hopscotch design. What I learned about myself was that I can work with other people but I need to throw myself out there. Hi mom, miss you.

This is a great blog Andrew, Isaac, and Solomon. I like how you all shared a learning and/or reflected on what it felt like to be Leader of the Day. That reflection is obviously a huge part of the learning process.
Glad to hear you all are bonding as a group and immersing in the community! Great photos, looks like you all were working really hard on this, keep it up!
