Day 4 Community Day!

Day 4 was a great opportunity for the new Glimpsers to have a chance to associate with a new local culture and practices and get to know their people on a deeper level. Today the students had the opportunity to visit Rio Grande where they had the chance to help local families in their daily routine and be able to understand on a deeper level their way of like. They had a chance to help a group of families with their daily chores and be able to talk about a relate to their experiences. Students were also asked to think about some of the things the community had in common as well as some differences. Then the families and the glimpsers were able to enjoy lunch together made by the families with the whole community. The joyful smiles lead to a short walk to one of the constructed rivers where the glimpsers and the local kids were able to enjoy a serious of splashes and activities with one another. It was definitely one of the highlights of Community Day!

Adding on to my co-leader, today was fun and full of so much positive energy all around. We all had the chance to visit Alta Gracia’s home and learn more about our CAP activity we will be doing later on. The group will be helping her redo her home and make the living situation more suitable, she is sadly slowly losing her vision. I’m really grateful that we have this opportunity to help such a great, independent women. This project will allow all the glimpsers the grow much deeper connection and work as a team. Lately we have been getting to know each other more and having some GOOD conversations. I am so glad I decided to come on this trip, I know we will all leave the trip with long lasting friendships and many good memories.
