Day 4: cap seminar 2.0 and cultural exchange prep

Hello! This is Lilah and Antonio, the second leaders of the day. Today we did a lot of work and preparation for future activities, but we also took the time to connect with our surroundings.

We started off the day with breakfast (banana pancakes!) and afterwards revealed the focus of our cap project: the Santa Rosa soccer field! We’ll be weeding, fixing, and painting parts of the field as our contribution to sustainable change in the community.

Afterwards, we visited Turrialba via their local public transportation – the bus. We explored around the city and visited fruit stores, pulperias, and cafes.

When we returned home, we prepared for our cultural exchange later in trip with the elementary school of Santa Rosa. We separated into groups based on our activities – intro and outro, language, mobility, and arts and crafts – and set up our materials for our visit on day 9.

We ended our day with the passing of the torch to day 5’s leaders – look out for their blog soon!

We were really proud of all of the Glimpsers for connecting and bonding today – everyone got much closer to one another. It was a new and exciting experience taking public transportation, even if we had to cram on the bus. The leadership experience was unique as well: we learned a lot of new things about ourselves while navigating the enjoyable but sometimes difficult role of being a leader.
