CAP day 3

The day started like usual, another CAP day digging to place the water pipe. Woke up at 6am in the morning and got ready by 6:55. Started knocking my neighbor’s door at 7 o’clock exact because is important to give others even that few minutes of sleeping time. I’m partnered up with Alicia and she will be responsible for her room and the boys room that near her. I never know how to be a leader, where I’m putting myself into a position where I will be responsible for a group of peoples actions. But from today’s activities I learned valuable skills that will contribute to my leadership skill and later on to my future. This is where communications played a key part in today’s culture action project, where me and Alicia start giving instruction on today’s plan, on the pipe digging process. Like the distance plus when is the water break. The morning went really smooth but after lunch the weather and road condition become a obstacle for the day. Is pouring outside and not everyone is equip with rain protection, this is where the voting come in. Everyone give a vote wether or not we should continue the process even facing the challenge of slippery road and harsh weather setting. I really appreciate everyones energy into this project, where we are all willing to finish the pipe distance on time even when is harsh. One solution I had for this problem is to have more water break and snack break.

When the clock struck 1 pm it started to rain and thunder. The thunder was scary because a lot of our tools were metal so we were scared of being wet and stuck by lightning. Once we established that we went to the local program coordinator and she told us that the thunder doesn’t come this way. Now we are heading up to where the pipe is resting. For the majority of the time it was just getting mud off of the road so that vehicles wouldn’t hydroplane or get stuck in the mud. Towards the end we had a truck that was coming up and had gotten stuck near a driveway. The truck ended up having to call reinforcement because our insurance doesn’t cover us if we get injured by something outside of the plan. At the end a lot of us got to washing shovels in an outside faucet. from there we had food and started reflecting on our trip overall.

The meeting was longer than usual since we had to do group and individual reflections. We had a few moments where we had to get really serious and an outside adult coming to vacation showed up and we got confused if we had more people staying with us that we weren’t aware of. That has been on our minds and so we wonder how many people really stay at one time.

To conclude everything we completed the most of what we really came here for and we had some interesting conversations and experiences among each other. We gave really good support to those in need and we triple check to really make sure. Overall we were here to have fun and so now we are going to play with some kids in the next day and celebrate our accomplishments.

Just wanted to say, good morning to all (9 am here),

What a beautiful job you’ll are doing placing the water pipes and dealing with unwanted ANTS. Besides the continued rain, I see inspiration in the way you are dealing with obstacles as young men and women who will be stronger than ever to deal with anything that comes before you. The looks and smiles on your faces is priceless. Jasmin you are an inspiration to your siblings, I’m so, so very proud of you young lady. I miss you! hugs, love, and kisses always. 😘😘😘
