BIoCULTURAL DIVERSITY/ SUNDAY FUNDAY!! 🌊☀️🏖️🐚🐢

Today wasn’t just our funday. We were also given the opportunity to learn about the role turtles play in biocultural diversity. Starting off our day by visiting Roberto and Isabel at their BioMuseo where they presented about Panamanian turtle species and what we can do to help save the turtles! Focusing on picking up trash from a nearby beach in Pedasí. We then journeyed to Playa Venao where we had rich Panamanian food, took amazing pictures, and enjoyed the breeze of the beach. Later heading down towards Playita Resort where our funday really started. As soon as we stepped foot off the bus we were greeted by the profound diversity of the area. Stopping to take pictures of the macaws and spider monkeys. After that we experienced the Azuero coast for the first time, where the water is much warmer than the beaches back home in California. And to end off our funday we celebrated our international coordinators birthday along with twin birthdays, Dulce and Nathalie.

LDD Insights:

James – Since picking this day to be LDD, it’s almost as if I was just counting down the days till the big opportunity came. I had the responsibility of making sure our fellow Glimpsers fell asleep and woke up on time. As the day was passing I was able to notice the effort of everyone as we cleaned trash off the beach even through all the sweat and discomfort we beared with the humidity we haven’t experienced till now. I was also able to notice all the fun we all had at the beach were we had people either swimming and riding the waves as well as the rest playing volleyball on the side. Today we had three LDD’s so the responsibility were split amongst us although I may have not done as much as the other two I still tried my best to ensure us Glimpsers were safe and had fun especially on our beach FUNDAY. Really was able to appreciate the enthusiasm and support everyone has given on this trip so far. We ended off the day with questions being given by our ggl’s for us to have input shared across people next to us. Where I saw everyone being engaged and people going out of their way to share in front of everyone. 🤙🏾

Leonardo – The opportunity to be Lider del Día was very fun! I was very nervous at first to be the leader it turned out to be very fun. I appreciated everything we did today from going to the BioMuseo to going to the beaches. My first time swimming in the Pacific Ocean will never forgotten and I’m very happy we go to celebrate birthday triplets. The food was good and filling and our pictures turned out so well. I will never forget this group or experience, it’s something more and meaningful than almost any other experience I’ve ever had. The aftermath of a beach day is almost always messy but so is life. We were able to make it back to Vida Tableña all in one piece to end out our Sunday Funday!

Maricela – I was tasked with the responsibility to be Lider del Día today and I made sure to make the most of it! After today I can positively say that I throughly enjoy being a Lider. Doing headcount’s, saying “cheers!” (which is code for my fellow Glimpsers to drink water) and personally thanking Roberto for his speech about the turtles made my day very fulfilling and my heart very full. My experience in Panama with Global Glimpse had been a blessing and leading today allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. I am really grateful that my delegation is full of amazing, inspiring and creative people all ready to become leaders. These past few days we have worked very hard to reach our goal of developing the biodiversity in Panama. However, seeing everyone today goof off and feel the warm waters of Panama for the first time make me appreciate this opportunity even more. Everyone brings amazing qualities to our delegation which helps us build up from one another. I will remember this experience for the rest of my life. I want to say thank you to my parents who supported me when I was presented with my trip to Panama, they payed for me to get this experience of a lifetime. Los extraňo y los amo mucho! Also to my amazing boyfriend, who never fails to support me in whatever I decide to do, thank you so much for leaving comments that put a smile on my face. Sunday Funday was a success! ♥️
