A Monday Full of Energy, Learning, and Big Love in Constanza
The day began early at 7:00 a.m., with students awaken by gentle knocks on the doors, readied for breakfast at 8:00 a.m. A delicious meal of toast with peanut butter, scrambled eggs, and fresh fruit juice energized everyone for the day’s adventures. Before heading out into the community, we participated in seminars focusing on safety protocols and the welcoming history of Constanza, which enriched our understanding of the local culture and people.
Our first stop was the Constanza Fire Department, where we learned about their operations, equipment, and the values of service and bravery during the presentation. Next, we visited the Military base to understand its role in our community and then explored the significance of the Dominican Army, led by insights about national hero Gregorio Luperón and the use of Guaraguaos to locate missing people. A photo stop at the “Trinity Plaza” allowed us to connect with Dominican history while enjoying time together.
After a hearty lunch of La Bandera Dominicana, we held our first Community Action Project seminar, igniting students’ curiosity about the upcoming project. With some well-deserved free time, students shopped for snacks and personal items. In the afternoon, we met local partner Bernardo, who shared his experience with community projects. The day concluded with a shared pasta dinner and a heartfelt Nightly Meeting, where students expressed gratitude and connected with one another, reinforcing a sense of growth and unity.
Day 2 is officially in the books. Stay tuned for the next blog post where we discover art and dance the Dominican way!

Question: How can we communicate with our kid using WhatsApp since he does not have his phone?
