Day 13 “CLOSING REFLECTION”

Today we woke up at 7:30 AM with a war. The war was revenge from the boys to the girls from yesterday’s pillow fight. This included various objects such as water guns, pillows, loud pots and pans, and music playing as well. After the wake-up, Jerry took responsibility as leader to clean up the mess that was made. Both Jerry and I had to announce that there were 30 minutes till breakfast since people were still getting ready. At 8:30 we had let everyone know since it was the last day they were able to sit anywhere they would like. For breakfast, we had pancakes, scrambled eggs, fruits, yogurt with oats, and cereal along with coffee and various juices. Once breakfast was over, we made final calls to our families and started our packing process. I (Angie) was making sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to do during the hours, like packing and drinking a lot of water. At 10:00 Jerry and I both gathered the group so we could start our final reflection about our 2 week trip in Costa Rica. We started off with a journey map that included our most significant moments, lessons learned, and our impact from the trip and from ourselves. Our Global Glimpse Leaders divided us into 4 groups to share out our journey maps. Everyone shared for about a minute each before gathering into one big circle. Once in the circle, our Program Coordinators explained to us the next part of our final reflection. At our nightly meetings, we always share our big loves with each other. The next activity was based on the big love from the whole group. We were given a piece of paper with our names on it and everyone had 40 seconds to write something positive to each other until they got their own paper returned. The Glimpers were able to see all the positive comments that were left to them by their fellow Global Glimpsers.

At 12:15 everyone went down for lunch. We both made sure that everyone washed their hands and did a head count before announcing what was for lunch. We had white rice, beans, beef with peppers and onions, and salad, with the juice choice of blueberry and passionfruit. Once lunch was over, the group had free time and continued packing bags until 3:00. At 3:00 Jerry and I were both leading the group activity which was Hide and Seek. Everyone had 3 minutes to hide around the base house while Jerry and I waited for the timer to go off to start seeking. There were 18 participants and we were able to find most of them until the time ran out for the next activity. At 4:00 we all gathered upstairs for another activity held by our GG leaders. The activity was called “Touch Someone Who”. We were split into 3 groups. The first group went up and the rest had their chairs faced the other way so they wouldn’t see. Our leaders gave us a prompt and we would have to touch one person’s shoulder to who the prompt applied.  This went on for 3 rounds. Then Yesica and her son Owen came by the base house to bring us treats. Her son Owen sang for us one last time which we enjoyed very much. The whole group had gone to the supermarket to buy anything they wanted for the trip on the plane tomorrow. On the way back we saw many beautiful sunsets and we made our leaders take photos of them. We arrived back at the base house around 6:10 to have our last dinner of the trip. We made sure we did head counts and that everyone washed their hands. The whole group gave a round of applause to Diego and Emilia our chefs since it was also the last day we were going to see them. For dinner, we had casado (rice and chicken), beans, and salad with more juices. Once dinner was over we had our final nightly meeting at 7:00. We shared MANY BIG LOVES!!!! and we ended our final unity clap with the word “PURA VIDA FAMILIA“. Sincerely Global Glimpse 2024……
