Day 11: Cemented Our Hearts In Constanza

We started the morning off bright and early by blessing our peers with Ken Carson as a “chill” wake-up song. Followed by breakfast which consisted of frosted and an optional unfrosted cereal and milk with mangoes. Shortly after breakfast, the group was transported to the community that we were working with for CAP day 2. On the way to the work site, we gave the group a pep talk (very encouraging btw) to motivate everyone for the day ahead. We mixed the cement for the pavement which was very messy (get ready to see some pics). We found out how valuable the skill of being flexible truly was today as the delegation faced MAJORRR setbacks. BUT. As leaders, we demonstrated how to navigate through challenges like this. Overall, the morning went well and the group finished a lot. For lunch, we were served pork, rice and beans, and a salad (As a delegation we love the pork that is served). Before we headed back to the community the group took a breather to regroup and conserve their energy for the next part of the day. We came back to the community with more energy and really got to work. The second half of the day the group was way more efficient and the assembly line we formed allowed for healthy communication. We realized strengths and weaknesses within each person and played on those to ensure GREAT work! After our hard work, we convinced the program coordinators to get us ice cream and we got it ? The group happily rode back home until we realized the bus couldn’t get back uphill due to construction because of a big ole tractor so we took a minor hike up the hill which most people ran. The group then enjoyed free time, some played in the pool, and cards, and others chatted about various things. Dinner was then served consisting of a rare meal of lasagna, salad, and pop:) We all ate it up merrily. After dinner, we hosted the nightly meeting which consisted of a lot of BIG MAJOR love for our leadership + humor which we greatly appreciated. Lastly, passing the torch to the next leaders of the day.
