Leydianis was born and raised in Chitré, Panama. Her admiration for nature’s beauty led her to study Biology with an emphasis on Microbiology and Parasitology. Eventually, she got a Global Ugrad scholarship from the U.S Embassy that allowed her to study and travel abroad for the first time and improve her leadership skills alongside people from around the world. Having that experience not only opened doors to conduct research in the tropics, but it also allowed her to travel around Panama and learn about the problems affecting her country. Inspired by her mentors, she and her friends co-founded Youth and Climate Change, an organization that tries to raise awareness about climate change and brainstorm solutions for other environmental problems affecting Panama. Leydianis first began working with Global Glimpse as a Program Coordinator in both Ecuador and Costa Rica. In her current role as Panama Program Manager, Leydianis partners with community organizations in Panama and supports program operations during the summer. When she is not working, she enjoys watching Friends and learning new languages.
