Each day has a different theme that provides context and helps you to focus in and fully understand important local issues within a global context. Just think of it as getting a PhD in day!

Our experienced staff mix and match modules to make life in a developing country truly tangible.

For example, last year on “politics day”, our students in Leon joined a morning seminar on the tumultuous political history of Nicaragua led by our certified travelling educators. The background and discussion prepared them well for the next activity, two exciting speakers. The first speaker was the current mayor of Leon and students were given the opportunity to really grill him on tough historical and political issues including human rights and the abolition of poverty. The mayor’s speech was followed by a discussion with his political opponent who claims that he lost the election due to fraud and intimidation of voters. Our students were able to ask critical questions of opposing representatives and arrive at their own personal conclusions. We believe in showing our students both sides of each coin and giving them the time to deeply reflect on the things that they see and learn.

Other days might include field trip to a sea turtle preserve, coffee plantation, or a rural village.
